Blindfolded on a roller coaster!

So awhile back I set up a bet with my mom that if I can beat her in a game of Words With Friends, when we go to Busch Gardens she has to ride the Sheikra wearing a blindfold.

 

I've never shown her any POV's, off ride footage, or photos of the ride. And when we're there, she's not allowed to look at the ride until she's done riding it, then she can remove her blindfold.

 

Would this really make the ride any more scary? She's afraid of heights and big drops and she has no idea what the ride does because I refuse to tell her.

 

And would they even allow this? The blindfold does have a strap like what goes on glasses and is just polyester and cloth, nothing hard.

I doubt they'll allow it simply because you'll need to blindfold her before you get to the ride. Same with while in line for the ride not to mention boarding. sounds mildly dangerous at best.

Well I will guide her into the ride and through the line. Just like we do with my blind grandmother. But if anything, she can take it off right before boarding and once we're seated, she can put the blindfold back on.

Good question. I know that they usually allow glasses as long as they have a head strap. So I personally don't see the difference here, especially because it's really just felt. But some parks are weird about that.

Ahhhh good idea! The problem is that neither her or I have a pair of sunglasses that can attach a strap but I can see if her regular glasses can, and they're transitions meaning they darken in the sun.

 

What's funny though is I told her that I'm going to get pivothead sunglasses and she keeps telling me they'll make me take them off but I always see people with glasses/sunglasses on rides and they NEVER FREAKING CARE!!!!

This concept is actually what eventually led to the Exterminator at Kennywood. To get a basic idea of how a spinning mouse would be in a dark building, then-GM Harry Henninger rode a Crazy Mouse on the east coast blindfolded.

I'd just go to Walmart and find a cheapo pair of big sunglasses. Bonus points if they work with a strap. Then superglue felt on the inside. It also wouldn't look nearly as weird walking through the park with a blindfold on.

 

And personally, I think you're better off keeping the dark glasses on until the train pauses at the drop, then removing them. But that's just me.

Well, I think they should be able to have a strap, otherwise I won't use them. This is based off a past experience.

 

Now what I could do is glue the blindfold inside the sunglasses if that's possible. That way, there will be a strap with it.

 

Oh and are you talking about when it hangs you to drop you? Because I was just thinking about that, having her remove the blindfold when we're left hangin'!
