Robb or Elissa, a coaster question

Have you ever ridden the Coney Island Cyclone? I don't see Astroland in the Photo section, so I was wondering, also, is the coaster as good as everyone says, and is it worth the trip from NM to NY

Yeah, we've both ridden it. Not sure why I didn't end up getting photos for the site, though. Hmm....

 

It's an 'ok' ride. Personally I'mnot sure why it gets so much hype. I mean, there's nothing wrong with it or anything, I'm just not sure it lives up to the hype.

 

I think I actually like some of the 'clones' better.

I pretty much agree with Robb on this one...it's more brutal and not quite as good as Georgia's or even Viper at SFGAm...

 

I think it suffers from "The Beast" syndrome where because of its history and classic status it gets elevated to another level.

 

Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun ride...just not a top 10 or 20!

Robb and Elissa what is your favorite Cyclone clone?

It's not quite a clone, but I'd say Viper at SFGAm...closer to a true clone I'd say Georgia Cyclone at SFoG.

Not really worth a trip by itself from NM, but there are a million places close that you could also hit. There is also this little city about 20 minute subway ride from Coney Island .... NYC. It is worth the trip all by itself.
