Hi, Im going to Vegas in 2 weeks, and Im planning on hitting up some coasters! Or any type of moving amusement ride, so below is the list of places where Im thinking about go to, do you guys have anything I should add?

-Adventure Dome- This place seems very run-down and old, but Ill give it a try.

-Stratosphere- I dont know much about this place, besides X-Scream, does anyone have to say anything about this place?

-New York Coaster- I hear this is a very bad ride But Ill do it for the credit

-Bills Casino?- I hear this place is like a 45 minute drive? is it worth it?

High Roller- Looks very cool and modern

Do you guys have anything that I should add? Thanks!

The Pinball Hall of Fame (http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ ) Even if you don't "play" anything. It is pretty amazing to look at all the old pinball machines in this location (there is no admission to get in, most machines are a quarter for 5 balls.) If you do go, make sure you play "Circus" which is a One-of-a-kind prototype pinball machine that is fairly unique (it's vertical instead of horizontal pinball, you really have to see it.)

I spent 2 or 3 hours without even realizing it there (I love pinball.) But I also think it is one of those cool "only in Vegas" kind of places that isn't a casino or shopping.

If you got balls, do the jump from the Stratosphere. It actually is a slow glide down, it's just committing to jump that's hard. New York is not only rough but a rip off, but yeah sit near front and get the credit. I rented a car from my hotel and went to Buffalo Bills. Easy drive. The coaster is not bad, kind of intense in spots. I won $350 at the casino and went next door to the outlet mall to spend my winnings! So it can be a fun day out in Primm.

There's another credit off the strip at Las Vegas Mini Grand Prix, if you're keen for some whoring.

Adventuredome isn't too bad at all, especially good in Halloween season.

Desperado is closed some days, so make sure you check before heading out.

So, what's the best seat on Desperado? Front, third row, back? Is it worth multiple rides or is it a one and done (the wristband looks to pay for itself in a little over two laps)? Are there any minimum ridership requirements (suspect this, but can't remember) or anything else that might cause delays? Thanks for covering any of these non-urgent questions.

yeah, I was going to say, Deperado (at Bill's) seems to only operate on Sat/Sunday with Regularity -- or if they happen to have a busy weekday, but they don't guarantee it.

last time we were there, they also had a drop tower, and a flume ride (but both those were closed, as was Desperado, since we were there on a Wednesday).

I'd recommend looking into doing a "bus tour" from Vegas Strip. (*they are typically free or very cheap, and include lunch too). They will take you to Hoover Dam, EthelM Chocolate Factory, and out to Bill's for a good 5 hour chunk. Bill's is right next door to a shopping mall, and the casino actually has a movie theatre in it (our friends who aren't gamblers saw "the Avengers" when we last went). so there's stuff to do if you don't want to play.

So yeah, email the casino and ask them to recommend a tour that will take you out there for free. If I'm recalling, we booked ours thru the TixTonight stands on the strip.

(as to Adventuredome? CanyonBlaster is great, and the new ElLoco looks like fun)

it wasn't one and done, but it's rough (nowhere near Manhattan Express rough tho)

we did one time in Front, and one time in Back.

I MUCH preferred the front, it was smoother to me.

It's been a few years since I last visited Vegas (going again this summer), but here's what I remember from my previous trips.

Adventure Dome- This place seems very run-down and old, but Ill give it a try.

Adventuredome isn't in the greatest shape (at least it wasn't when I visited several years ago), but it is kind of a must if you're going for amusement parks as it is the only full amusement park in Nevada. Canyon Blaster is good, El Loco sounds pretty good, but nothing else here is really noteworthy. It's fun for a couple hours, but I wouldn't plan more time than that.

Stratosphere- I dont know much about this place, besides X-Scream, does anyone have to say anything about this place?

Haven't been up here in a long time (when I went up, they only had Big Shot and High Roller). Basically, there are three rides: X-Scream (the teeter-totter over the edge), Insanity (a spinning ride that dangles you off the side of the tower), and Big Shot (a standard Space Shot on top of the tower). The rides are expensive ($15 each), so I'd recommend getting an unlimited pass if you want to ride more than one. If you're looking for an extreme thrill and have the money, the Stratosphere Skyjump (a vertical descent from the top of the tower) looks pretty cool.

New York Coaster- I hear this is a very bad ride But Ill do it for the credit

I've never found the New York, New York coaster to be a terrible ride, just on the lower end of the spectrum and a total rip-off ($14...not worth it IMHO). If you do decide to ride, go early because the coaster can have 45-60 minute waits at night but is usually 10 minutes or less during the day.

Bills Casino?- I hear this place is like a 45 minute drive? is it worth it?

If you have a car and can get out here it's worth visiting, but I wouldn't rent a car just to go out here. Desperado is a good ride, but it is rough, the log flume is very average, and I don't think Turbo Drop operates anymore (at least it isn't on the website). Note that the rides only operate weekends and holidays outside of the summer and run very limited hours, so be sure to go on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Do you guys have anything that I should add? Thanks!

For amusement parks, the only other place in the area is the Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix, which I've never been to. Vegas.com has a pretty good list of other attractions in and around Las Vegas that might be worth checking out if you want to do something other than gambling.

I've always preferred the front car or the middle row of the back car. I definitely would advise sitting in the middle row of a car if possible as the ride is much smoother when you're not over the wheels. To me, it's one of those rides that can be ridden multiple times, but one ride is satisfactory. Usually, I'll stop by and ride once if the coaster is running, but I've only once purchased the wristband (on that particular visit, I did three rides). As far as delays go, I don't remember there being a minimum rider requirement but I do know that they will wait a few minutes between trains when it isn't busy in order to fill it as much as possible. On busier days, note that they only ever run one train (at least when I've been there), so you may encounter a bit of a line.

Thanks guys. I'm just going to make my decisions on the fly, but it's all good since I was more curious than worried. To add to/clarify the above, currently the site is listing the amusements as being open on Fridays as well.

I would certainly put in a quick call before going, just in case. The place is sketchy as hell and I could totally see them randomly having stuff closed for no good reason.
