simon8899
Finally made some vidcaps of the 1980 Italian movie "Chissà perché… capitano tutte a me" - called "Buddy haut den Lukas" in German. The finale of the movie is filmed in Six Flags Over Geogia while most of the movie was filmed in Monroe, Georgia. This is one of the so called "clobber"-movies were the actors around lead Bud Spencer got into comedic fistfights. As theme parks were a quite new thing in Germany for the movie it was dubbed a carnival called "Eldorado Days" The sheriff takes a round On-Ride footage of the Mindbender from when Schwarzkopf loops were still new random show shot don't know this ride kiddie ferris-wheel Parachute-Tower Log-Flume splashdown Hence the German title as these things are called "Haut den Lukas" - "Strike Luke" here They even did a Mindbender nerd shot wooden coaster fun Dolphin show As this movie is about fistfights screenwriters came up with lots of weird ideas to get rid of guns Bud Spencer hitting some cops before the Dolphin Stadium
dresdenoberst
I remember the Drunkin Barrels ride from when I was 9. Mindbender was really thrilling back in those days. The Scream machine was beautiful in that fresh patriotic paint scheme. The Flume had both sides back then.
GayCoasterGuy
Great caps! 3 headrests on Mind Bender
thrillerman1
This is how I remember the park from my childhood. Great to see the old pic of the Drunken Barrels which if I remember correctly were located in the Lick Skillet section of the park. I'd forgotten that the Mind Bender area was once themed as Jolly Roger's Island too. Thanks for sharing!
Aceattack52
Great caps! 3 headrests on Mind Bender Mindbender looks a lot better today. No bench seats and the ground around the second half is cleaned up and has a water feature. I'll have to watch the movie. Here is a portion of the Six Flags parts I found on YouTube. It's not everything shot there, but it was the best I could find. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Edited May 21, 2013 by Aceattack52

MisterP
Mindbender was UUUUGLY. And that's hard to do to a Schwarzkopf...
ernierocker
Anyone know where this section of the park was? Can't tell if that is Mind Bender or the mine train in the background. Although I think that might be the old Pirate ship on the left which would make that where Batman the Ride is now. simaticable
That is where Gotham City is today. The coaster trains look closer to Mind Bender than the mine train.
ernierocker
The only thing that is throwing me off is that hand rail in the bottom right of the picture. Looks like it is heading up a hill.
Aceattack52
^ That could be going to a ride entrance, exit, or something of the sort. That is where Gotham City is today, it was called "Jolly Roger's Island" at the time with a pirate theme.
