Today at around 2:35 pm, gunman Richard Erickson walked into Happy Valley Amusement Park's customer service center, where he opened fire, killing 13 people. Today, the gruesome scene of the customer service center will be one that many will never forget. The building, located outside the park right next to the parks entrance gate, was the scene of one of the worst shooting massacres to have taken place. At 2:15 pm the costumer service center was attending the customers like it would on any given day. The center was at it's busiest time with all of its 6 staff members on duty, helping the 10 customers, and season pass buyers inside. At 2:30 pm customer, Richard Erickson, entered the center looking and acting like any other customer. But at 2:35 pm, Erickson pulled out his firearm and fired 3 shots into the roof of the building before pointing, and firing at people inside. The sound of gunfire sent everyone in the parks plaza, and front gate into a frenzy, causing them to run for every which direction. Guests towards the back of the park where at first, un-aware of what was going on, but the news of what was happening quickly got around. Many guests inside the park were quickly evacuated through employee entrances, and the rest were hidden in the basement of the coaster stations, or in bathrooms and buildings. Though the individuals inside the customer service center were unfortunately not so lucky. Everyone inside the center at 2:35pm were killed, except for the 3 lucky staff members that survived. Coaster Cow
Really love the park, but IMO this storyline might be in poor taste...
RideofSteel
That's terrible... I totally agree that's tasteless.
fraroc
I do believe that a shooting is not a good plot device for a park sale. And the way you described it sounds very similar to what happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School. Now don't get me wrong, even though I didn't like the fact that someone would shoot up the place, I LOVE the park. It looks absolutley GORGEOUS. (BTW for those who are wondering, Elmwood Lake Park is not dead. I'm currently taking a sabbatical from it.)

I'm sorry, but this was done in EXTREMELY poor taste. You can rely on other elements to forward a story, but using a shooting, ESPECIALLY right after one recently occurred is incredibly disrespectful. coastin
Hello everyone. I began creating this parks storyline about a year ago. I wanted something big, and disastrous to happen to the park. I had brain stormed with ideas, and came up with one. I went and shared it with a few people, but they responded that it wasn't very original. It was something that everyone had done once or twice before. With that response I came up with the incident posted yesterday. Please note, I am not the kind of person to ever, EVER commit a crime like this, or of any type, and these things bother me greatly. Time went on, and I was in the process of making the park, and the story line had been set in stone. Sadly, December 14th came around, and after hearing about the event in school, my mind went into a tailspin, my stomach became knots, and I began to feel very unwell. I went into my file of the storyline, and deleted that post. Since the December 14th incident I have been my normal self at all. I've gone into this state of depression, feeling un-easy while attending school, and I still can't process what could cause someone to do such a disgusting act. A month later, I went back to the file of the storyline and re-added the post. I did this because, I feel like it would help my cope and let my mind pass all of the thoughts of the December incident, and stop hiding the truth from myself, and that deleting the post wouldn't do any better for myself acting like the December tragedy didn't happen, though I am still very upset and disturbed by it all, not just the December tragedy, but all of them. Another reason why I added the post back in was because I want to in some way bring an awareness to everyone, and to have a dedication to those lost and affected from/by a shooting. I am honestly, deeply, truthfully, sincerely, sorry and to anyone and everyone that I displeased and up set anyone with that post. I had no intentions to do that in anyway. Also, I did not post that to mock the recent incidents, or to have my own little play time and get carried away with it. All in all, the shooting in the story line was NOT inspired by the recent shootings. The incident was inspired by what had happened at Six Flags Great Adventure many years ago. If you would like to ask me anything, speak your mind to me, or share comments, I ask you to please PM me. I will be happy to listen to everyone and anyone. One more thing, in the storyline, I have NOTHING against the Chinese. It is just part of the storyline and have no intension of making the Chinese look bad. Thank you for reading, Coastin ______________________________________________________________ June 21, 2003 It has been 2 days since the incident had occurred. Officials have not allowed anyone except police personnel and those with permission anywhere near the park. The parks old owners still have not released any word about the incident, and I don't believe we will be hearing anything from them anytime soon, if ever. The park has been placed on sale, and is no longer called, "Happy Valley Amusement Park". It currently sits there nameless, and now property of the state. No one knows if the park will ever re-open again, and what will happen to the park next. The city has planned a candle lit vigil for those lost in the tragedy. More details about that will be released soon. As of right now, the city has planned for the demolition of the park's customer service center. Thank you for reading, James Miller (City Official) __________________________________ Now in wake of these recent real life tragedies, I would like to give my condolences to those affected and lost in shooting events Please take the time to send prayers to the individuals and families affected by real life shooting tragedies if you are religious. If you are not religious, please send happy thoughts to the individuals and families affected by real life shooting tragedies. Hug loved ones extra tight no matter what day it is. Never leave off on a bad note because you never know if that is the last thing you will be able to say to that one person. Live your life to the fullest, and act as if every minute counts. coastin
The middle part was part of the story line, and the bottom part was a dedication for what has happened in real life. I did not make that clear and I am going to fix that right now. I only plan, and have had planned to post only 2 updates about the whole thing, the last one, and this one. I apologize for everything, I never had any intentions to hurt or upset anyone. The incident was never ever based off of the real life incidents. It was based off of the incident that happened at Six Flags Great Adventure years ago.
A.J.
I put this in here due to the nature of the situation. Coastin has been notified about it. I'm all for realism, but... Edited February 6, 2013 by A.J.

A.J.
Nice catch. I didn't even think to cross-reference the IP addresses, I just thought that iOS was a bad poster. Sorry Robb, this is one instance where iOS is not allowed in Theme Park Review!
mcjaco
^ Sometimes you just get lucky. I was deleting a bunch of back seat mod posts from broughtonboy's crap thread. Checked some IP addresses along the way, and voila!
