AlmereStars
Hey everybody, You all probably noticed that I wasn't really an active member of the Forum in the last few years. The main reason for that is that I'm really busy with my life as a student. Another reason for not being that active is because of RCT games becoming really old. RCT3 for example is already 7 years old! I think that over the last couple of years I lost more and more interest in the game. I became excited again when the CS reached a really high level and you could do amazing stuff with it. But then the game really let me down by crashing all the time when you start to use more and more Custom made things. I posted some stuff in the preview thread that I was working on, but didn't get to finish because of the crashes. I decided to make one last park, a sort of goodbye to Rollercoaster Tycoon 3. I wanted to pay tribute to the game that I have played so much. Therefore I decided to uninstall the game entirely, including all CS and other stuff. I installed a new, clean, version of the game and made a park in a way that you are somewhat supposed to play the game. So I made some rules for myself: - No Custom Scenery, Flatrides or anything else. - No changes to Options.txt - No programs that help you with the game in any other way There is one thing that I did use and that is the M Brookes cheat. You can't really do much without us that cheat. I also wanted to use the Themes that the game gives you, instead of using rollercoasters as roofs etc. Anyway on to the park itself! Poortania AdventureLand Poortania Adventureland is a Theme Park designed for families. It has 4 Rollercoasters and a lot of other thrillrides. The park is located in a forest with some hills and is open till midnight (night update is also coming!) I'll start with an overview that I posted in the Preview Thread a couple of days ago Preview Now heading onto the more interesting shots! Driving towards the parking lot entrance The parking lot within a short amount of time it transformed into a sea of cars Square before entering the park. Information building on the left and a building for buying tickets on the right (can't see it in this pic) Once you enter the park you'll come across another square with shops and restaurants etc. You will also walk straight into the first ride Other view of the Swing ride, with the queue This concludes the first update. I will end every update with an overview of the covered area. Shots are taken in the RCT1/2 Isometric camera view. I hope you enjoyed it so far! simaticable
This is a really enjoyable park! The scenery is full, there is plenty of different shots and angles, and the screens are very appealing to the eyes! I hope to follow this park as it developes. SoCalCoasters
I've always loved your work, especially your NCS parks! Great job with the park so far! It looks extremely clean and polished, something many NCS parks lack.
mcjaco
Great work Almere. Can't wait to see new updates. Your photoshop work makes even NCS work look great.
AlmereStars
@simaticable: Thank you very much! I hope I wont disappoint you with the rest of the park @SoCalCoasters: Thanks! I personally think this is my best NCS park, so I think you'll love it! @mcjaco: haha thanks! Didn't even do that much photoshop work, I just altered the Hue/Saturation a bit because I think that the default colours are too bright/childish. UPDATE 2: Into the hills! Here I am again, this time with update #2. Its all about the first rollercoaster of the park! I used the mine/western theme for this coaster. Its a Mine Train coaster that goes trough the hills. It starts with a relaxing bit of track along the top of the hill, before plunching in the hill itself. After that it twists trough the hills and trees before getting to the 2nd lift hill. After that it splashes in a small lake, alongside a fishingcabin before twisting back to the station. After that coaster you'll see a merry-go-round in the generic style and the main station for the parks transport. On the the photo's!! Or just scroll until you reach this part if you don't want to read anything (like me) When you pass the swing, you'll enter this little town. It has a shop in the building and the building in the background is the stationbuilding of the rollercoaster Dropping out of the station After a small cave and the lift hill you have a beautifull view Smile! This is after the first part of the ride is over, you'll see the layout in the RCT1/2 style pictures below Alongside the minethemed town you can find this hidden merry-go-round This is the mainstation building for the parks transport Railway system. The billboard reads Poortaniaanse Spoorwegen, which is Dutch for Poortanian Railway The back of the station with the swing and minetown in the background This concludes Update #2, but not before we recap the area we covered today in RCT1/2 style Here you can see the railway station and merry go round, right next to the swings. I blurred the part we cover next update The pre lifthill part of the coaster and the part after the second lift hill The first part of the coaster and the end of today's update Thank you for reading! SoCalCoasters
It's looking great! The only suggestion I'd give you is to possibly alter the terrain paint a bit around the Mine train to give it a more mountainous feel. Looking forward to seeing what you show next! AlmereStars
@simaticable: thanks! Update 3: Yoho! This is a small update containing 2 new rides. A pirate ship and Rapids. It's one of the areas more concentrated on the fauna etc. then on the buildings, but the rapids is mostly inside a castle. This is my least favorite update because I am not a huge fan of the pirate theme, but the adventure/pirate theme is a huge part of the RCT3 scenery so I wanted to include it. The last update we ended with the train station. At the other side of the station you'll walk into a caribbean themed area. With this lovely ship as one of the rides See, its lovely The main ride is this rapids ride. 90% of the ride is inside this castle Pirates are watching over you! Will they beat you in the hunt for gold? Even the parrot is trying to get your attention But in the end you'll find gold! This was it for today, next time we'll cover some flat rides and the second coaster of the park! RCT1/2 style overview:
AlmereStars
aahw no comments aah well Its been over a week, so I geuss it's time for a new update! Update 4: Donderstenen Today's update is actually a double update. First part is all about the 2nd rollercoaster of the park: Donderstenen (thunderrocks). It's a kiddy coaster, situated right after the main train station. The 2nd part is about some flat rides and off course We'll end with some overview shots again. enjoy! As promised: A kiddy coaster! In the last pic you can see the station. This is the qeue entrance Birds eye view of the coaster. You can see the lay-out in the overview shots at the end of this update Time to turn things upside down with some flat rides There has to be a ferris wheel in every park And as you can see, the park consists of several small lakes which gives you a nice view One of the flatrides And the other one For everyone who noticed the wooden rollercoaster, that will be the update next week! So stay tuned Overview shots:
SoCalCoasters
I really do love the atmosphere that you've injected into this park. It has a really nice small park feel, with the expanse of a full size regional park. The one thing I would suggest is maybe a bit more path variation? I'm not quite sure how it would look, but it might make some of the area pop more.
AlmereStars
@SoCalCoasters: Thanks! I'm playing with some path variation, but there aren't that much different paths without using custom scenery anyway.. you can see some small pathchanges in this update! Update: 5: Woody Style! Hey everyone! Its been a while, so here's the next update! Today is all about Kong.. a wooden rollercoaster. I like how the layout turned out to be, but to capture the magic of it you really should download this park. Which I will post after the last update! Thats the station it will be the last "generic theme" station you will see for a long time The layout is twisty And its high! with a lovely view over the rest of the park Next to the woody you can go even higher enjoying the sunset with the ferris wheel and "Super Shock" Next update will be a big one! It will be all about one of the 2 themes you can see in the last overview picture! Will it be "atlantis" or will it be "dutch" theme next update? Stay tuned! Overview shot 1: Station building Layout, lots of head choppers (also for the railway) Thank you for reading!
AlmereStars
Update 6: Going Dutch Hello again! It has been a while since I last updated this thread. So it is time for the next update, and the next theme: Going Dutch! Because I'm Dutch I can't ignore the colonial theme. Because of the rich history of the Dutch naval successes I decided to theme it around a log flume ride. The area also has some shops and 2 flat rides; Tea-cups and that spinning boat ride thing (don't remember the name of it). I hope you enjoy it! Yep, that looks like an old Dutch house The big drop on the log flume As you can see it is themed with some buildings, trying to create some harbor-ish scenery on the left you can see the station building View from the top of the ride, with the teacups ride and Donderdstenen (kids coaster) in the background Tea Cups with typical dutch roses (which actually originated from Turkey, I geuss we just made them popular) Near the log flume's station you can find this lovely flat ride. Go home boat, you are drunk This is it for now! Hope you all like it. Next update will also contain a lot of water Overview shots:
coasterdude2011
Looks amazing for NCSO! My only tip though is to try to add some more color to some of your screens, some of them just seem very white in my opinion.
narkitty
I am in love with this park! I also got frustrated with CS and I've been messing around with different parks for a while without it, but none of them look as great as yours! I wish I was as good at making buildings as you are. Can't wait for the next update.
CorkscrewFoley
Narkitty, I am no good with buildings either, but from time to time, I make one that I am proud of. Now as for this park, I really am enjoying it. Very laid back, and I would hope to see it remain that way.
AlmereStars
@coasterdude: Thank you! Its true that its white, but the whole dutch scenery pack is white (or ugly greenish). With this park I wanted to show everyone what you can do with every scenery pack. So without using other scenery stuff, that bit is going to be white. Which I actually kind of like @narkitty: thank you verry much! as CorkscrewFoley mentions: Keep on building, you'll improve yourself! Sometimes I find some pics from older parks I've build.. they contained a lot of ugly buildings haha. @Corkscrewfoley: Then I really hope you like this update! Update 7: All the Way This will be the last update. I was planning on making 3 seperate updates, but i'm really busy with my study. Therefor I decided to put the rest of the park in this update. I will post a nighttime update later this week, and I'll upload the park to the Exchange so you all can enjoy it! here we go: After leaving the Dutch part of the park we'll head into "Atlantis" This big splash ride is called Poseidon, not a unique name.. but still a cool one The "atlantis" part contains several flat rides and some high flying stuff This flat ride just has to be in this area This one is for the people who want to go upside down There is also a creepy castle in the park on one side you'll find a scary ghost ride and on the other side there's a train station The last ride of this park is HawkEye Which is a suspended coaster that will have you flying trough the air before you go flying trough the trees. I can't really get good pictures of this ride, but I really think it is awesome. So i suggest you'll download the park in the coming update and enjoy the ride This is it! Poortania Adventureland is done. And with that, my time building parks on TPR is over. I really hope you all enjoyed this park, and all the other stuff I shared with you all! Here are some extra pics, I tried to make it look like Tilt Shift Photo's The car park Kiddies Coaster The swing at the entrance Log ride @ Dutch Valley Power Tower Poortania Adventureland Grand Central Station Creepy Castle And the last one: Poseidon
gavt1976
I have to say that this is amazing park for a Non CS, because i loved parks like these and i am looking forward to see what else you have got planned for us all soon.
Staida
I cannot wait much longer to see / play this park. I've been following this thread (before I was registered) for a while now and am really looking forward to it. Great, great work.

AlmereStars
@gavt1976: Thank you but I'm sorry, but this is the last thing i'll do with RCT. I played this game for over 7 years and I'm done with it. This park is my tribute to the game, and will be the last park I'll build. Enjoy this last nighttime update and have fun with the park when you download it! Staida: The wait is over my friend. This nighttime update will conclude this park, and my time building parks with RCT3. You can find the download button at the end of this update! BLKDMNDS: Thank you very much! I hope you like the nighttime update Update 8: This is it. This update will be the last update I will post. I want to thank everyone who ever looked at one of my projects that I posted in the last 6 years that I have been active here on TPR. For now my time building parks with RCT is done, but perhaps I will be back with the new Theme Park game. The last update is a nighttime update of the park and ofcourse you can download it. The best thing about this download is that you do not have to download anything else, since the park only uses generic scenery and rides! Only requirement is that you have the Soaked and Wild! expansion packs. I don't know if it will work without them. You can find the download link at the end of the update. Thank you all and enjoy this park! I don't know why, but parking lots always looks so relaxed One last look at the entrance The western theme was one of the first themes I really liked, I never used it as much as I used the Mine Theme at RCT2, but it still looks good The biggest train station I have ever build in Rollercoaster Tycoon A park isn't a park without a ferris wheel Being Dutch, I'm always proud when dutch stuff is added to great games The atlantis pack and the big water ride go so well together The Top Spin, placed in every single park since RCT1 The last overview shot of Poortania Adventure and the best thing of this update: DOWNLOAD. Again thank you! and i'll see you all soon on the forums
historyfreak92
This is the RCT3 Park that I like so far, but sadly I have Windows 7 which my cousin won't take off as I ask her to cause when I create a Sandbox, or Download a RCT3 Park during the middle, It says RCT3 has stopped working, & quits it self! So anyways, nice park!
