Brandy524
Researching Monster Mansion characters on Google I found a page that mentioned a Horror Cave walk-through at SFOG in the 70's. I had never heard of it before so I did a little more research and came across this set of pictures on Flickr. Apparently a lot of children were traumatized by this attraction in the 70's! I've come across multiple blogs and message board descriptions of scarred childhoods. Anyway, I searched here and didn't find anything, and thought you guys would enjoy these pictures. Here's a discussion of it on Flickr, with detailed description: http://www.flickr.com/groups/dark_rides/discuss/61777/ And here's the photo set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/26463067@N04/2507499921/in/set-72157605152942116/ Anyone here remember it? edrho64
I'm 48 years old and remember the horror cave well even though I went thru most of it with my eyes closed. The vampires in the coffins and the slide at the end is what I remember most. Till this day I can't go thru any haunted house. My wife and I went to Halloween horror nights at universal several years ago and she made me go in two of the houses and I basically rode on her back throughout the houses, ha ha. Brandy524
Nice find, Brandy--thanks! I love haunted walk-through attractions. You're welcome! I don't like them myself. I'm a big chicken! Although as an adult this one doesn't look that bad, but as I child I bet it was terrifying. I'm 48 years old and remember the horror cave well even though I went thru most of it with my eyes closed. Glad someone here remembers it! I probably would have kept my eyes closed, too. Heck, the swamp of the Monster Plantation scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. I kept my eyes closed in that part. There is no way I would ever go to HHN!
RoCo
Wow, seriously awesome find indeed! I have NEVER heard of this before, but while recording a Season Pass podcast last night, one of the guest-hosts, Urso Chappell, spoke briefly about SFOG in the 70's and how great it was, with the Krofft stuff, etc. Incredible. (Can't wait for Deep South Bash! )
edrho64
Some of my fondest memories of six flags was the 70s. Sid and Marty krofft had a puppet show and they had walk around characters of H.R. Pufnstuf, cling and clang, and some of the lidsville hats. In my mind the park was much cleaner and more themed than it is now. Tim Hollis wrote a book about the history of sixs flags and it has many pictures of the park from that era.
disneyfan1313
Awesome Find! Kids stuff was super creepy back then and the early 80s. Not sure how we are all somewhat sane!
