dubaidave Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 At the end of June I am takin g a flight back to the UK via Kiev and have decided to stop off for a few days. I saw the Trip report on here from a couple of years ago and plan on hitting hydropark and seeing if the coasters are still there. I also read that the zoo might have a kiddie credit but wondered if anyone had any more info or advice? thanks
gisco Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Anyone? Another area of the world that was closed off for so long that needs exploring for coasters!
dubaidave Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 It does look like an interesting place. I will be sure to take plenty of photos.
dubaidave Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Ok. Made it to hidropark to find only the kiddie credit is still there. The looping one was closed a while ago. However the kiddie coaster was Almost certainly the most painfully thing I have ever ridden. It was literally launched into the overly sharp curves with such speed that it did feel like it would derail, and not in a good way. Was shown the defensive riding position by the ride op then the train was rolled back out of the station to get a good run up. Must have been sent round at least ten times. I have video that I will post as soon as I get back. Photos don't do this thing justice. It looks like it should be a nice kids ride however it packed such a punch that I had to sit down after. They also had a ghost train which consisted mainly of dummy's dressed in sports gear. Wasn't able to attach photos from my iphone so pics coming soon.
gisco Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Not a good sign when the ride op shows you a defensive riding position!
Noxegon Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Don't forget to post these pics when you get a chance -- thanks!
dubaidave Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Here's a few pubs to keep you going. Will post a full trip report as soon as I can.
dubaidave Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 At 80p a pint it is easy to get the two mixed up.
dubaidave Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Here's a Pov of the ghost train in Kiev. Edited July 20, 2012 by cfc
Nrthwnd Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 ^ I think the scariest thing in that ghost train ride was all the neon lighting in there, lol! Thanks for sharing!
gisco Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Wow, kind of short. Looks like something someone would have done in their backyard!
cfc Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) The scariest thing about it was all the noise the car was making. Edited July 21, 2012 by cfc
dubaidave Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 I did think it had stalled on the first turn.
HEADCHEEZ Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 That Ghost Train sounded like it was falling apart. Great pictures/video from a not often seen park! Also, Since you were there during Euro 2012, How big were the crowds?
dubaidave Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 finally got the coaster vid up. here it is enjoy
Extreme Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Sorry Dave I feel your pain. But that was one of the funniest things i've seen in a long time. Ken
cfc Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^^I'd need a beer with a vodka chaser after riding that thing--an insane launched kiddie coaster? Not even the Chinese have something that crazy!
larrygator Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Dave - I take it you did not need a re-ride! When the train started rolling backward I would have been all WTF?
dubaidave Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 I really do think it is the worst coaster experience I have ever had.
