kunpc1 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 It's really impressive looking in the evening as it gets dark out when the flames are shooting out the top. It's great to look at and it's definitely a fun ride too!
palmerleeberry Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Holy Moly, it looks like a ton of riders and amusement park flyers got to answer this question before I had the chance. Since I'm already here, I might as well give you my answer. The Volcano is an unique ride because I haven't seen any other park that has a coaster like the Volcano. Make sure you ride this ride early as possible, no matter how much the Dominator, The Intimidator, and the Rebel Yell tempts you to ride them first. The reason is simple: The train on the Volcano can hold up to 16 riders each, while the Dominator and the Intimidator can hold 32 riders (I think the Rebel Yell could hold up to 24 per train, but I'm not sure), so in short these coaster can eat up a line very quick. But the Volcano, with its two trains, takes much longer to eat up its line, so the sooner you ride it, the better off you'll be. And if you don't mind the waiting bit, riding the Volcano at night is spectacular. That's all I have to say. "You're done? You mean, really, really mean it? Only for this post and you have other posts to add? You are a meanie!"
CoasterT98 Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 Hey guys sorry this is taking so long to reply too, but thanks for all of the awesome feedback! Im really looking forward to visiting Kings Dominion and riding Volcano as well as all the other amazing looking coasters! Thanks again, Tim.
palmerleeberry Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Hey Ya, I'm back with an update to my post concerning the Volcano. According to a report I read from Screamscape, Kings Dominion has plans to shut down the Volcano before summer's end so the ride can go through a much needed rehab ( a major renovation on the ride and station area that is supposed to increase capacity and allow for three train operation ). So if you can get to Kings Dominion early in the season, then you can ride it while it's still running. I hope they do something else besides increasing the capacity - I hope they will dress up the final brake run area(before you enter the station)into a cave with lava gushing underneath your feet. "I've got a better idea: turn that final brake area into one giant bed so the riders can be reminded that their pillows miss them in bed."
mtavenger55 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 ^At least it's getting a rehab. That ride did need it badly when I last went in 2010 to ride I305. Volcano was my 100th credit & I do find it very enjoyable. I especially like the 2 launches & the theme.
