Real Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Last night Cedar Point held PointFest with Manic Drive, Disciple, TobyMac and Skillet. My dad started like CRAP. First, my wife's work/school wouldnt let her out even a minute early. Which was ridiculous because she was done 15min early. Second, when we ran to the car, the battery was dead. Giant middle finger to my plans. So, got it jumped and sulked for awhile. I really wanted to hear Manic Drive and Disciple. Been years since I have seen them live. Well, upon arrival, I had missed 90% of Disciples set as well. Suck. But I knew from previous experience TobyMac and Skillet not only sound just as good in concert as they do recorded but its high energy, really awesome performances. That was an understatement. TobyMac was just as good as I expected and even sang some really old songs from a band he was in (dcTalk). That was really cool since that band broke up a long time ago. Skillet? HOLY. They have really come a long way and put on one amazing show. John is always awesome but his wife has stepped her game and aside from playing 523 instruments (which she did in 2006 when I saw her, PREGNANT) she plays them while being completely spastic on stage. Its wonderful to watch. Im also a sucked for string instruments and the electric cello and violin were music to my ears. They now rock with a pretty good pyro set, moving platforms and their new drummer, Jen Ledger, shes pretty awesome for a 21 yr old female drummer. Wait, shes REALLY AWESOME. My wife just kept saying "Wow. Shes intense" Anyways, I didnt have the Gold or Platinum tickets so I wasnt near the stage but my long lens more than makes up for that. imawesome1124 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 That black guitar Kor has is awesome. I remember her showing it in one pf their podcasts but I didn't think she actually used it in concerts. Also what's the design on John's bass? It looks like flames but I can't really tell. I would have loved to go to this. Skillet and disciple are two of my favorite bands. Nice pictures.
Real Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Just looks like chrome flames and then its mimic'd up the neck.
VinTheAttendant Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Dude, these pictures are fantastic! What kind of camera do you use? I've always wanted to see Skillet live, but based on the pictures you'd never suspect them to be a Christian rock group. The first part of your day sounded really frustrating, but at least you got to still see a good line up. Rock on!
thrillerman1 Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 In case you've never checked out the band, The Prayer Chain, you really owe it to yourself. Too bad they're long defunct now. Some of the members went on to form Lassie Foundation with Jeff Schroeder who is playing guitar with The Smashing Pumpkins now.
Real Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 Its music, there is no right or wrong.
TJ27 Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Ahhhh I really wanted to go to this concert. I gotta say I'm not a big fan of Christian music but Tobymac and Skillet are the best and their concerts are so energetic.
coastermaniac Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I went to Cedar Point that day and the park was packed because of it. I'm not complaining though (I'm a christian).
