^It looks like styrene tubing and large scale (O scale?) model railroading trucks.

I really like that! If you want to join the cars, I'd suggest a rubber o ring cut into about a 1" connector. For the base of your cars, brass sheets will give it weight too, and then you can make the car bodies out of styrene plastic. Do let us know what you used. It looks like it could be Coaster Dynamix for the track. Great job! Peace, KC
