Driving From Texas to New York, suggestions?

My family and I are driving from Texas to NY, and we're looking for a place or two to cut down the 25 hour drive. The only problem is that the family doesn't want to go to more than 2 parks... maybe 3 if I get lucky.

 

I need to cut down the list. Any hep, and any I'm forgetting?

 

Six Flags Over Georgia (Georgia)

Holiday World (Indiana)

Carowinds (North Carolina)

Busch Gardens Williamsburg (Virginia)

King's Dominion (Virginia)

Six Flags Great Adventure (New Jersey)

Six Flags New England (Massachusetts)

Where in Texas to where in New York? That will help us look at the route and see which parks would be best and if you're missing any from your list.

Just from an initial look, SFNE and Holiday World may be a little out of the way, unless you're going those ways.

The fastest way to NY would be through Ohio and some other Midwestern States. Depending on which way you go, I know there is:

Worlds of Fun

SFStl

Holiday World

King's Island

Dollywood

Waldameer

Kennywood

 

Or you cut cut across to the coast, then head north, and those are most of the parks that you have listed.

Dallas, Texas to Syracuse, New York. Plan is to arrive in Syracuse on a Thursday, if that makes any difference. We're then going from Syracuse to New York City.

 

Speed isn't a big priority and we're willing to go a little out of the way if it means hitting a better park.

For a Dallas to NYC route, you could take I-20 to Atlanta and SFOG, then change over to I-85 and head to Charlotte for Carowinds. Then that to I-95 to pass by BGW, KD, SFA. Then take I-81 up to Syracuse, passing Hershey.

Great Adventure seems like a sure thing because its collection of coasters seems unmatched. The other parks seem like a toss up to me.

Kings Dominion

SFGAd

 

If you go this route you'll also go right past some other decent parks so if you can convince your family you could stop at:

Alabama Adventure

Carowinds

SFA

 

And these parks wouldn't be too far out of the way:

BGW

Dorney

Not sure why your family doesn't want to do too many parks, but if it because they are big fans of the rides you might want to plan a longer route

that allows Dollywood and BGW. Both are parks that can be enoyed by non-park fans.

The reason they don't want to do too many parks is because the vacation is more about New York... I'm just trying to sneak in some coasters where I can. Of the two people I'm going with, one really likes roller coasters and the other enjoys them occasionally but would rather not ride them.

 

This has me leaning to Busch Gardens Williamsburg... it seems the mix of scenery/theming and elite rides would be a good fit for everyone. I thought I heard something about them having really great gardens, hence the name. True?

^Now that KD has I305, I'd lean more towards that.

^^Yeah, SFoG is a better park, but I305 is one of the best coasters in the country and trumps anything at SFoG, so it's really your call.

Not completely sure yet which route. It's not set in stone and we're willing to adjust it if it means seeing the best park possible.

Intimidator 305 & El Toro in the same trip would be amazing! Especially if you throw in Volcano, Dominator, Flight of Fear, Kingda Ka, Bizzaro, and Nitro!
