Zack44 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Report: I had meant to type up this PTR a few days ago, but I couldn't get any time to upload the pictures until now. Long story short: the park was nearly empty the entire day. Even though I visited during the middle of Spring Break, there was only (I'm estimating) like a hundred people in the entire park. The weather scared a lot of people off even though it only rained for about 20 minutes and the majority of the rides were only closed down for half-an-hour (The fact that this is arguably the lousiest Six Flags park doesn't hurt either ). The lack of people of course meant a ton of re-rides, too. Even when we left the park around 2 o'clock to get lunch outside the park there was little to no waiting at all. If there was any waiting at all, it was because all of the coasters (except Batwing) had only one train running all day. You guys get my point. Ridelist: Superman: Ride Of Steel 11x Batwing 5x Joker's Jinx 3x Wild One 3x Tower of Doom 3x Roar 2x Mind Eraser 2x Great Chase 1x Rodeo 1x Photos: Huzzah! We are here at last! What park isn't complete without teacups? Wild One? Fun. Waiting 20 minutes in the train because the lap bars malfunctioned? Not so much. So if it's Gotham than what's Superman doing in there? First stop: the twisted metal mess. Hooray for hypers! Is it bad that the edges of the Cobra Roll are the tallest parts of this coaster? This was actually the only water ride open, and I only saw like 10 people ride it... More jumbled, compact steel! *cue The Price Is Right mountain climber music* The newest coaster here...happy 10th birthday btw. Must get its name from the ROARing headache that comes afterwards... Mind Eraser was actually my first Vekoma invert; not the most pleasent experience. I love to stop for the scenery... At least Vekoma's flyers aren't as head-banging as their inverts. And I got to end the day with the last Superman train of the day! Thanks for reading!
Thunderhead Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 SFA is generally garbage... I went there in 2003, and nothing has changed coaster-wise. Actually IIRC, they took out a coaster (Two-face) which I never got to ride in the first place Superman is sick though
willh51 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 So does Batwing actually have 3 trains still? You mentioned it was running two and it looks like there's one pictured on the transfer. I know the X-Flight/Firehawk third train got stripped.
xVicesAndVirtues Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Nice photo TR! I really miss this park, I haven't been in two years. Everyone always thinks of SFA as the "garbage" SF park, but I've always really enjoyed it. Their SLC is one of the smoothest I've been on, Superman kicks a$$, Joker is less trimmed and more intense than Flight of Fear, Wild One is amazing, and Batwing is a nice alternative to all the B&M Flyers everywhere. Has anything changed/been updated with Superman, or do they still keep those terrible leg bindings on the restraints?
Cavs Fan Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 ^The leg things are still there. I just went the other day for 2 hours before it started to pour. The staff was the friendliest i've seen of any park!
Skycoastin Steve Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I was there that day. Waited 20 minutes in Johnny Rockets to get my food. They didn't have any equipment turned on and had no burgers cooking an hour after the park opened. Other people waited as long as 30 minutes because they also didn't have the fryers on and no fries were ready. The milkshake was the only good part of that ordeal. Other than that, it was a typical crappy day at the park. At least the 3rd hill on Superman is almost worth the effort to get to the park.
