BrandonR Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) Just got word that a PR rep at ACE's Winterfest confirmed that Six Flags over Texas won't be enforcing the ever-so-controversial ride lockers for the park's 50th anniversary season this year. Now I'm not sure if this is a chain-wide thing, but hopefully it is. Can anyone think of a single decision Six Flags has made in recent years that has caused so much uniform anger amongst all park guests? I can't! Hopefully this is a step in the right direction! Or maybe the park already generated so much revenue off the devices that they can afford to ditch them for several years to come... Oh, and if you're wondering why I spelled a word with an underscore, it's because there's a strange word filter on these forums for that word... Edited January 29, 2011 by TPDave
the ghost Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 WOOT! NO MORE LOCKERS(WORD FILTERS RULE!) Lets just hope this is a whole park thing.
SFGAm Shock Wave Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I don't know about the rest of the chain, but Great America changed the policy on their website in November or December to imply that the l0ckers would be optional.
ebl Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Even though I don't think a mere dollar is too much to pay for the peace of mind knowing your stuff is safe and secure, the policy is clearly not popular with park guests. Other chains don't charge anything for guests to store their stuff for a limited time, and they seem to be OK. What might have made this work is, say, a one-time $5 charge that would cover you for the entire day. Eric
John Knotts Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 From my visits to several SF parks in 2010, there just weren't that many people using them. It even got to the point where people were just stashing their stuff(sippy cups, stuffed animals) off the ride and taking the chance it would be there when they got back, or making a mid-day trip out to the car. I have a feeling most parks will ditch them soon as they just don't work.
robbalvey Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) Seriously, people who bitch and complain about Six Flags doing this in the first place are total f**king morons. Idiots. Bafoons. Completely losers. Assholes. Enthusiasses. I'm sick of it. CEDAR FAIR AND BUSCH GARDENS CHARGE FOR FLUFFY FLUFFY BUNNIES TOO!!! You all bitched and moaned about the $1 Fluffy Bunny, yet guzzled down plenty of $6 Cokes with a peep. F**king hypocrites. I'm sick of hearing about it. Horray for SFOT getting rid of the policy. But really, who cares? THREAD CLOSED! Edited January 29, 2011 by robbalvey
