Mods - is it possible to turn a post into a new thread?

I posted a report on my Space Coast Marathon experience in the Running thread, on the Random board, but it turned out to be a lot longer than I realized. Now I'm wondering if I should have posted it as a separate thread, or if it's ok where it is?

Thanks! I'm fine with it staying where it's at, as it is probably only of interest to runners.

Is there a way to link to that particular post, so I can direct facebook friends to it, or do I just link to the page?

FYI - each post on the forum has a post bookmark that looks like this: and located here:

Clicking on that little bookmark opens up a URL that takes you directly to that post. So you can copy/paste that URL and give it to someone so you can link them directly to a certain point on the forum.

Hope that helps!

That's awesome. I always thought that was just there showing me the new posts. But I'll have to keep that in mind from now on.

If you look at the forum view and it shows in red -> it goes to the new posts

When browsing the topic -> it will give a direct link to that specific post

Another easy way to link someone directly to a particular post is to right click the title of topic name in your post and click "copy link location".

In this case, the topic in the post is "Re: Mods- is it possible to turn a post into a new thread?", obviously.
