gci2011 Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 An official announcement will be made in August (On Tuesday).
gci2011 Posted December 26, 2010 Author Posted December 26, 2010 The American Bicentennial July 1976, 10th Season  Hello friends, We're doing better than ever as we head into the middle of the summer. While there has been no new development on the construction site yet, I managed to get some other pictures around the park:  This area of the park is never usually very crowded.  Paratrooper is always one of the busiest rides in the park!  Rocky Rumbler was down for mechanical reasons this morning, but they had it testing when I got there.  It's been another great day at Boulder Leisure Park!  Have a great day!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
gci2011 Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 The American Bicentennial July 1976 Â Hello Boulder, Â I hope everyone's had a great Fourth of July! I have big news - an announcement regarding next year's additions will be made tomorrow! We've decided to make the announcement early this year, as much of our work is already showing. Â Mad Mouse is still the most consistently popular ride in the park! Â Modern Motorcars is doing great as well. Â Please check back tomorrow for our big announcement! Until then, signing off... Popcorn54 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Hi Just read through all 18 Pages and found your building skills have improved alot since the start and I am going to continue to follow this thread. What was hurler, can't remember what ride was it. Keep it up!!
gci2011 Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Thank you for taking the time to look at my park so thoroughly! Â Hurler is the ride located in this building: Â Last 2 pictures on this page It is a spinning mad house ride that opened in 1971, our 5th season. It's experienced extended downtime and low ridership, and has thus been closed for the past two seasons. Â Hope this clears things up!
SoCalCoasters Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Hello, this is Alexander Knight, founder and owner of Bell Gardens in Rancho Santa Fe in California. Â I recently visited your park while seeing a friend in Boulder and was amazed at how much is has grown over the past few years! While your park opened as an amusement park, we opened ours as a garden park with a few carnival rides. Â I heard Anton had another big project this year besides the Revolution at Magic Mountain, is this the project he mentioned? This looks like the same track as our new coaster Kitanzi Which opened this past spring. Â Â I tried seeking you out to talk about our parks but alas, you were not available. Â -Alexander Knight, Owner of Bell Gardens
gci2011 Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Hello Mr. Knight, Â Thank you for taking the time to visit Boulder Leisure Park! I'm sorry that we were not able to speak, I've been spending much time in the office lately. Working at an amusement park isn't always easy! Â I will say, myself and others have been closely following the success of Magic Mountain's Great American Revolution, as well as your own Kitanzi. Congratulations on your growing success and terrific new coaster! While I cannot officially release information on our upcoming addition, you were definitely onto something when you mentioned Mr. Anton Schwarzkopf. Â With tomorrow's big announcement approaching, press releases have already been sent out. Be sure to check the papers tomorrow for all the details on our new addition. Â I will have to be sure to come out to Bell Gardens next time I am in the area! Â Sincerely, Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
gci2011 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Boulder, CO - Guests at Boulder Leisure Park next summer will have yet another reason to scream and shout. The park plans to add their 6th roller coaster next year, Sunburst. Riders on Sunburst will experience one of the most unique and technologically advanced roller coasters in the world. Designed by the famous Anton Schwarzkopf, Sunburst is one of his new shuttle loop designs. Using a weight-drop mechanism, riders in the train will be launched forward on the track at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. After riders are launched out of the station, they will first be turned upside down in an inverting element known as a vertical loop. The train will then ascend the front spike of the ride, more than 120 feet tall. Riders will then travel backwards down the spike and through the loop. The train will rush through the station and travel partway up the rear spike before slowly returning back to the station building. Â Sunburst will debut when the park opens next May. Â
SoCalCoasters Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Looks great? Did you actually make the weight drop tower out of CS?
gci2011 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 I have not yet but I will if I can and have time... otherwise, we'll just have to pretend! Â Thanks for the compliment!
ericm95 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Wow this looks great! Perfect for the park!
Popcorn54 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I think it fits in great with your part as well. Goes very well with the Time zone, looking forward to your next update!
gci2011 Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Thanks to both, glad to see it is well-received!
gci2011 Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 The American Bicentennial August 1976, 10th Season  Hello Boulder!  Have you heard about our big announcement? We can't wait for Sunburst to open next year, so I've got a construction picture for you. Hopefully this one can help you compare with the concept art:   Anyway, I managed to get a few more pictures around the park today. It was getting late by the time I got out of the office, but I ended up with some really cool night shots: Boulder Railway is still popular - its one of the most-ridden rides in the park!  It started to get dark quickly. At least Mad Mouse is all lit up!  Guests always try to squeeze in one last ride before it's time to head out for the night.  I'll be back soon with another update.  Have a great day!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
gci2011 Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 The American Bicentennial September 1976, 10th Season  Hello again,  Boulder Leisure Park is winding down for the season - just one month left! Be sure to come and get in one last visit to the park if you can.  I've been flooded with work since the announcement of Sunburst, so it wasn't until very late that I was able to get these shots:  Washington's Whirl has been doing well all season - everybody seems to love it!  Rocky Rumbler prepares to give one last ride for the night.  Guests love Rocky Rumbler's crazy twisting drop!  Lakeside Dipper is also doing great! Everyone seems to get fooled by the pre-drop!  All of the guests have cleared out by now, but El Furioso is still all lit up.  Have a great night!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
gci2011 Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 The American Bicentennial September 1976, 10th Season  Hello again,  It's once again the end of the season for Boulder Leisure Park. Hard to believe that 10 years ago we were just wrapping up our first season.  I managed to get a few photos of the last day for you:  Grand Wheel was full almost all day!  Ecstatic Elephants is still one my personal favorite rides in the park.  I've been told that this area will be repaved for next season.  This area will also be repaved.  Bumpers looks as good as ever.  Mad Mouse was really running great this year!  This area already looks nothing like it once did - imagine what it'll look like next year with Sunburst!  Have a great off-season!  We'll see you next year!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
ericm95 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Still looks great! I never seen that bumper cars buildings but it looks great! And very detailed!
gci2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 ^ Thanks! ---------------------------------------------- May 1, 1977 11th Season  Hello Boulder!  We're back for our 11th season, and this year we're thrilled to debut Sunburst, our first looping coaster.  Welcome back: This area sure looks different with Sunburst!  First run of the seson!  This area sure looks good with the new paved walkways.  Grand Wheel sure has a long line!  Modern Motorcars is doing great as well.  More next time...  Have a great day!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
Ace Of Spades Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Very happy to see this back! However, one quick thing: The supports on Sunburst's loop look a little flimsy. If you're using JCat's Steelworx for your Custom Supports, there's an arched loop support that would look much better there.
gci2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 ^Thanks! About the supports, it looks like I took this picture before I added the other loop support! I did try the arched loop support, but it stuck out to the side too much and I didn't like how it looked. I also tried the one in shyguy's circus set, but it didn't look quite right either. I went with this - I'll revisit the arch supports, but I may not switch. Thanks for the suggestion though!
gci2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 May, 1977 11th Season  Hello again,  I've got a ton of great pictures of the park today, Sunburst in particular. Take a look!  Loading the first train of the day. The park must not be too busy yet!  Up the front spike!  This new refreshment center was also added.  We also added this small arcade.  The entire back half of the park was related over the offseason.  This area sure looks different!  I'll be back with another update soon. Until then, have a great day!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
Ace Of Spades Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Okay, that looks much better! Â Only thing now: I think it might be time for the coasters (or the wooden one, at least) to get proper stations similar to Sunburst's.
gci2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Already working on it. I've been planning it for a while, but haven't started until know because I don't know how much longer to continue this. We'll see...
Yamez Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Any particular reason you're using the LIM coaster and not the Looping Coaster? Just curious.
gci2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 ^Just thought it looked better. ------------------------------------------------------ June, 1977 11th Season  Hello friends!  Not much to say, but I got a few more pictures today. The park sure is looking good, I must say!  Rocky Rumbler's second drop sure looks fun!  I've also heard that they're looking at extending the train for next year - we'll have to wait and find out.  Roundup is definitely one of the craziest rides in the park!  Weeeeeeeeeee!  The also added these trees along one of the back pathways - they sure help to break up the pavement!  I'll be back with another update soon; stay tuned!  -Robert Clarke PR Manager Boulder Leisure Park
