Ali Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 The guy in the second picture, Basil Fawlty anyone? I would definatly count this as a credit, this kid should charge people to ride it when it's completed, he would make a fortune!
robbalvey Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 seems that you over read my post, that wasn`t about this wood coaster, that`s n old thread, and i posted a new self made terrain coaster in here... It wasn't over read, I did look at the terrain coaster and IMO it was kind of "meh", the story about the kid and the wood coaster is much more interesting, IMO. and @robb: you answered to a 4 year old post i had to smile when i read your answer... sounded a little bit huffy. I honestly never saw this thread before! I really like it sometimes when an old thread gets bumped (even if it's years old) because there is some great stuff on this forum that never gets seen for one reason or another. This is also why we really encourage people to use the search function. Some great stuff gets unearthed sometimes! Sorry if I sounded huffy, didn't mean to come off that way. So i think this one could had become the first proffesional amateur coaster in the world and i would have counted this as a REAL CREDIT in my opinion .... really sad that it never will happen. To each their own. I can't really count a coaster that the public cannot ride because then at that point you can pretty much call anything you can ride rolling down a hill a backyard coaster and count that as a "credit." If it's in a park, or a fair, or even a private location that IS open to the general public at least one day a year (like Stricker's Grove) then I'd count it. It's just my opinion. People can count whatever they want. I've seen people count free fall towers, log flumes, and yes, even self powered cycle rides. I at least know when someone asks me what my "coaster count" is, it's a REAL count with REAL coasters, not anything silly or wacky. --Robb "I didn't even count those pseudo-coasters at Amazing World." Kooky Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 ^ In one way you`re really wright, but i think when this would have been done, he would have probably made a coaster enthusiast day or something like this (or i would have done this)... because his building was known all over the world. But of course the ride would be on your own risk... but i am sadly not the one who had build this coaster, so just a speculation. So by the way, the reason why i used this thread was the same you posted. Found this one really intresting and don`t wanted to open a new one. So you really do a good job, in raising your forum members And now im not sure if i used "huffy" in the correct form... i just mean it in a funny way. I really smilled when i wrote this, so no problemo.
Noxegon Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 The guy in the second picture, Basil Fawlty anyone? Eh, that's one of the Mack family (as in Mack Rides). Couldn't tell you which one though...
Capitalize Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 That's too bad he never got to finish that thing. Must have taken him ages to even get that first hill built. I would never ride it though, something about what essentially appears to be designed after a steel coaster but built entirely with wood by a 14 year old makes me a bit nervous...
