Just want to give everyone the heads up that one of the last remaining RCT mega sites will be shutting down their forums in the coming weeks. It is uncertain how much longer the download store will remain open. Why everyone abandoned the place is beyond me. The site has everything an RCT player could ever want, from the basic RCT game to the beginnings of RCT3.

Anyway, if you have never gone shopping at the Mart I highly suggest you click on the link in my signature and get busy and if you have in the past you might want to stop by and make sure you didn't miss anything.

Clearance items always go fast.

If are a member you might want to stop by the forums and say your goodbyes to those who made and maintained one of the best if not the best RCT sites ever created and if your not a member sign up and and say thank you for all the wonderful FREE content you have in you Objdat folder.

Isn't fisherman retired? I think i heard that on NE but anyways RCTmart was where I learned of CS!!! I went visiting a few days ago and saw on the forums most of the replies and posts were from a few years ago.. Too bad it's gonna be gone

Just wondering, would it be against TPR/RCTMart TOS to grab as much stuff as we could and post it in a dedicated thread here so it doesn't just go bye-bye? Of course credit would be given where it is due and such.

So far the only thing closing is the forums. It is uncertain how long before the downloads are gone also.

I would assume since all the downloads are free and the only game content that is legally copyrighted is RCT2 itself there would be no issues with posting them here or anywhere else for that matter. After all anyone who downloads a park get all the content that goes with it anyway. So if someone did complain about there just being items available as downloads all you have to do is put them all in a park and distribute them that way. So the complaint would be useless.

As for putting all the amazing content here for download I think the best way to go about it would be to ask mcjaco to talk to Robb about it and see if it's cool with him to eat up that much site space with such things. After all he's the one paying for all this and the more content that's here the more it costs to keep this place running.

Keep this in mind though, the good people over at the RCT2 Object List site no doubt have everything from RCTMart in storage somewhere. Every item they have listed has a download button, however it is uncertain if they will ever actually get the function working. As it stands now if you want an item listed you have to ask for it in the forums. Have to give them 2 big thumbs up for all the work they do there. While it's not the most ideal way of file distribution and I am sure it eats up a lot of their time filling out requests. Almost 100% of the time if you want/need an item they will find it for you and put it up for you to download.

As long as he's going to keep the download portion of RCTMart up, I'd continue to use it. Not sure how much stuff they have total over there, or the total file size. Does RCT/2 stuff take up that much space?

If you want to look into it, be my guest. I can tell you that Robb and I have talked about expanding the Games section to include a database for parks, scenery, CTR, etc. Space, and bandwith would be the major barriers. So I'd need that info before I can raise it with him.

Wow, RCT Mart was the first site that introduced me to the world of custom scenery for RCT2 and RCT3. I never really knew it still existed.

I think for the time being it is fine to just keep everything at the Mart, with that said it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on the situation and if they do decide to close the downloads area then we can try to get the items posted here at TPR. I spent a few days going through all the RCT2 topics/posts in every sub forum in the search for extra content that was never posted to the downloads area. Found quite a bit of content but for the most part it dead links from many years ago. It is all saved on my computer and once I get it sorted out I will be putting it on a disc for safe keeping.

A data base for RCT/2/3 and NL would be very nice and I would be happy to help put it together if it was to ever become a reality here at TPR. It would definitely eat up some space though.

RCT2 - Right now my ObjData folder has 17,301 itemsin it with a file size of 611MB. While that may not seem like much that does not include any photos or any other information for any of the files. Something that would in most cases need to be added to each file so people can find what they are looking for or just window shop. I also have a file with 3,833 saved RCT2 game files from all over the world in that is 741GB in size and is still growing. Almost every time I open a park I get more new content for the game.

RCT (original) - Would be very easy and very low on the file sizes since there is no custom content and all the maps are only a certain size. There really is nothing more than just a few trainers and other utilities and saved games.

RCT3 - While I have the game, I have never been able to play it on my computer so I really have no clue how big the files are for any of the custom content that is out there or what the file size would be for the average saved game.

NL - I have had the game for many years and have lots of saved tracks. They don't seem to take up much space and neither does the custom content that came with many of the track files. Once again though if posted in a database style tracks and other content would more than likely need pictures added increasing the the amount of space they would take up.

^ Thanks. The 611 MB is what I figured. That's not too bad.

RCT3 stuff gets really sizable, as most sets are around a 5 MB or more. I'll post this in the super secret ASSistants forum, for pondering.

My fear is losing all the RCT/RCT2 content as these sites close. I'm not so worried about RCT3.....yet.
