The Cove - Dolphin Documentary

Hi Everyone,

I finally was able to watch the documentary The Cove.

For those who've never heard of it, its about dolphins being slaughtered in Taiji, Japan. Why? Well, it started with capturing these dolphins and selling them to aquariums around the world. Those who didn't make the cut, would then get killed for food.

However, scientists have proven that dolphin meat has high levels of mercury in it, which in turns is toxic to us. The Japanese government tried to cover the excess dolphin meat by adding it to kids school lunch program, or even labeling as whale meat instead.

Then, the final excuse for slaughtering them was that dolphins are considered "pests" and need to be exterminated.

I've literally been thinking about this the whole day and have written in my daily planner that starting from today I will try my best to make people aware of this situation.

I really feel sad that these intelligent creatures are being killed for non-justifiable reasons. So, for the dolphins and for anyone who's enjoyed watching them on tv or real life, please take a moment to:

- watch the documentary

Here's the link to the extended trailer on youtube:

- sign the petition to stop the slaughtering of dolphins in taiji, japan

- let other people know about the issue.

Only through numbers we can make a change.

Thank you

I saw the documentary about 3 months ago. Did a lot to help, signed petitions, even wrote letters. It's a big step that the film was able to be played in Japanese theaters, which only happened recently along with some controversy.

Why do people always feel the need to interfere with other countries cultures simply because they don't agree?

I personally wouldn't go around killing Dolphins, and certainly don't agree with the practice...but who am I to mess with another countries practices?

Why should people interfere with the culture of the sea? Sacrificing people was a tradition and part of culture in now civilized nations. If that was going on today, don't you think that something should be done to stop it?
