astroworldfan1
www.wafb.com/Global/story.asp?S=12788151 BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The woman who reportedly fell from a roller coaster at Dixie Landin' amusement park Sunday has died. The woman has been identified as Lindsay Zeno, 21, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department. Zeno was pronounced dead after she was rushed to the hospital. She reportedly fell from the "Xtreme" roller coaster Sunday afternoon. State Fire Marshall Butch Browning tells 9News inspectors from his department are at the Dixie Landin'/Blue Bayou Park to inspect the ride where the accident happened. Zeno reportedly fell from the park's "Xtreme" roller coaster -- a ride that spins as it twists and turns along a steel track. Blue Bayou's web site describes the ride as one of the park's newest additions that "is nothing like you have ever ridden." Liz Haynes Harrison of Dixie Landin' Park issued the following statement: "We are all saddened by this terrible accident. An investigation by the State Fire Marshall's office has begun, to try and determine the cause. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time." Xtreme was relocated from Drievliet Family Park.
Skycoastin Steve
After a quick facebook search (gotta love the modern age), it looks as if this could have been a case of someone that might have been too large for the restraints. Sad story indeed.
dixiestud15
Very sad day for the family and a really great family park. i have ridden this ride at least 40 times! they r really good at checking the restraints. maybe they didnt click it enough. dixie landin needs the business. it is a great park with great rides!! they dont need this kind of attention. very very sad day for the family and the park indeed!! bgwfreak777
Why in the world would Maurer Söhne make a coaster that doesn't check to see if a restraint is locked? I know the Mack's are very picky and you have to get so many clicks before it will dispatch.

Columbia
I recommend not making any more assumptions until we have more information. ^ +1 - That's the best way to do it - speculation almost always leads to misinformation running rampant.
dixiestud15
Now there is a teenage girl that has come out saying that last week she went to Dixie Landin and she rode the ride in question. She is my neighbor and this is her story. They couldn't lock the restraint. The operator told her not to worry about it. She asked, "What if it opens?" the operator said the forces would keep her in her seat. She said she wanted it locked before the ride started. They had trouble. They finally got it locked. She called the park and they said the rides doesn't go until all the harnesses are locked! I think Blue bayou/Dixie landin have a huge problem on their hands. The situation is awful for the woman who was killed and her family, but news outlets should not write articles that encourage people to post comments like "When I was there the ride was stopped for 10 minutes while they 'fixed' it." I could see a ride-op joking that a rider "might fall out." I'm pretty sure it happened to me at the Myrtle Beach Pavilion. Then again, maybe I'm just too cynical to believe a child knows what she's talking about.
Skycoastin Steve
The article was filled with GP comments. They don't have the slightest idea of what they're talking about. You could tell a guest that the flux capacitor is broken on the ride and they would tell a news crew if it got them on tv/in the papers.
