thrillerman1
Larry, I didn't know you play pinball. Awesome! Did they have any good machines? I'm enjoying your photo TR. Thanks for sharing, and I can't wait for more!
sixflagsguy5
Someone was telling me that lobster is dirt cheap in Maine, but $14 for a lobster roll seams kind of expensive. Is that just like a hot dog bun with lobster meat inside?
carolinacaniac
Loving the updates Larry! That McDonalds with the ski-resort appearance is pretty awesome! Now is the coaster at York's Wild Kingdom the credit not previously on RCDB? I wasn't quite sure if I was reading it right. -Gary
larrygator
^Yes, that is correct. I alerted Duane at rcdb of the Wacky Mouse. Someone was telling me that lobster is dirt cheap in Maine, but $14 for a lobster roll seams kind of expensive. Is that just like a hot dog bun with lobster meat inside? Not dirt cheap unless you are buying it uncooked. There was a lot of lobster in that lobster roll, I had already taken two bites out of the one sitting on my dash board. The one in the restaurant was smaller and cheaper at $10 but came with a decent size order of onion rings. larrygator
Well this is where the title of the thread comes in. Although it was raining pretty hard when I left Palace Playland it started coming down harder and harder. Since my next stop was only a couple of miles away, I continued it to Funtown Splashtown just to make sure it was affected by this downpour. For the record, my original game plan was to get to the park at 3PM, to take advantage of the late day special. I guess I'll be back later in the year. Two minutes into my drive this it what the weather looks like. NOT GOOD! Then the it started getting even darker outside. Although you can't read it, sign says the park is closed. So there is my second missed credit of the trip and I'm stuck on 799. Now look at how much clearer the skies are at 6PM versus 3PM in the previous photos. Since I was now three hours ahead of schedule I had time to kill so I consulted my map and traveled someplace I had been twice before. Someplace that had been good to me on two previous trips. And here is where I parked at the next stop. Hey it looks like a mall, but I hate malls. Especially ones with swanky shops. Although Nathan's and Carnegie Deli in a food court make me feel at home. But after stopping at an ATM for $500, I end up at this crooked building. I figured that with this weather the Rainmaker Casino at Foxwoods was karma and destiny would fill my pockets with cash. Unfortunately, destiny stole my money and a couple of hours of sleep. Only one more stop to go on this journey. larrygator
I guess my last post was as much of a washout out as June 6th. By 5PM on June 7th, I had to be back in NYC for a softball game so that gave me just enough time to spend 2-3 hours at Linecutter's Paradise, I mean Six Flags New England. I don't know why line cutting is so blatant and rampant every time I go to this park. I was thinking it would not be so bad on a Monday, but there were a lot of school trips. That made the line cutting worse than usual. I figured if I got to SFNE at opening I'd be able to get quick two quick rides on Bizarro within an hour or so, but horrible operations and line cutters only allowed me one ride in 50 minutes. For that, I present no pictures of Bizarro. A garbage can drumming trio was a precursor to the bad day ahead. I still love the paint job on Crime Wave. and I'm all for more use of the DC Comics license, as with Joker's Wildcard. and of course, I'm all for Brain's Fabulous Dough. but even happier to see Blue Moon served at a park. But these guys have to go. I went to check out the character meet and greet (this signs announcing the greets are great) and talked to Speedy Gonzalez, my favorite Looney Tunes character but for whatever reason "Speedy Says" So, I reminded him we were not in Mexico or New Jersey. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Ok, got that out of my system. Houdini was open and I still think the stare from this actor in the pre-show is very creepy. I still miss the original drop on The Cyclone from Riverside Park days, sigh. Although the first drop still kicks hiney! Rollercoaster Cuts is still alive and kicking. New England Skyway is still one of my favorite sky rides, even if it is so short. But I never read the histroical plaque before this day. Roller Coaster picture, because you cats dig that type of stuff. Roller Coaster picture with a train, because you cats dig that stuff even more. Fade to black. Wumbology
Funny. I was at Six Flags New England the Friday before you. I was actually part of one of those evil school groups, actually... (But we didn't have matching evil t-shirts.) I got two rides on Bizarro, probably a class record, but that meant running there before anyone else in our group and waiting in line, crazy with heatstroke, for an hour and a half, with the risk of missing the bus.
