Groteslurf
Part II of Serengeti Park report. Let's start with the star attraction of Serengeti : Aquasafari The only ride in the park with a line during our visit. Earprotection available for the kids. Well, I could have used one too, because the ride is VERY loud. The ride op. Starting with a calm part. But after the calm start, the wild part starts. Me and the ride op To the honest, although I understand most german, I didn't really have a clue about the storyline of the ride. So I can't tell you what this theming was for. But then hell breaks loose. Still on Aquasafari, but as said, didn't understand the storyline, so don't know this monkey was doing there. Another star attraction Unfortunately, the ride op didn't feel like driving us around. He told us there were at least 10 persons needed for him to drive out. The park being completely dead, this ride being in a deserted corner of the park, it would never happen to find enough other persons to ride with us. The ride op seemed happy we turned around and started talking with a colleague while having a smoke. I found a few pics on their website. The ride really looks like fun. Note to the Serengeti Park management : we really appreciated that all rides where in operation although the park was really dead during our visit. But one of your drivers of Dschungel Safari is rather relaxing than working. The way he got rid of us, didn't fit in your park. We were at your park October 7, at the ride 430pm. You can look it up which ride op it was. Teacups Well themed slides Baby park I love the idea of having something like this for small kids. Only a small fee of 20 eurocents per ride. Wildlife restroom Second coaster of the park. Another double-8 OMG, we're off track. Camp out at the park. Logflume without a waiting row. Wonder how they manage the crowd on busy days at this ride. We jumped in. SITZEN BLEIBEN, bitte.... Second lifthill And work in progress for their 2011 ride. Thanks for reading this update. Groteslurf
Before proceding to the next park report, I have a report for you of the Hotel Port Royal, which is the Heide Park hotel. It was my first stay at this hotel. View from our room. Themed toilet 1 strange thing : if you want to open the window completely, you need a special key. You can get this key at the reception but you have to pay a deposit or rental fee (not sure anymore what it was) of 10 euro. Backside of the hotel Lobby theming I love themepark hotels Elevator theming Boobs. Janet Jackson Show stage Hotel bar We already had a few before dinner. Dinner time. Excellent buffet at a cheap rate : euro 25 pp. Included in the rate are all kind of soda's, wine and ..... BEER !!! After dinner we headed back to the bar and showtime. More boobs Recycling .... My place that evening Also Hans' place. "Michael, are you a nice belgian ?" They both liked it ... OMG .... After a short night, one last look at Colossos and time to hit 4 parks in 1 day. larrygator
I actually preferred the theming at Port Royal Hotel over all the other European on site hotels
Guy T. Koepp
Awesome TR! I can't wait to see your epic 4 park day! You are cramming a whole bunch of parks in a very short trip. Very nice!
Groteslurf
Day 4 of our trip, the day we would hit 4 parks. Â First park of the day : Zoo Safari & Hollywoodpark Stukenbrock. Â A park I had never heard of before till I found the park on internet as a park with coasters, on our route and open the day we would pass by, so the park was included in the itinerary immediately. After a fast ride, we arrived at Stukenbrock at opening time. Purchase of your tickets is done as you see on this picture. The park existed 40 years in 2009. They are so happy about that, that they are still celebrating this in 2010. Â One more thing : if you ever go to a safaripark, take the Nightmare on Elmstreet sountrack with you. This music turned out to be the most perfect on-board-audio ever for the Safari part. The safaripart is much smaller than the one at Serengeti. We raced through the safaripark so that we could explore the attractionpart. Weird park entrance strollers Store Kiddie ride Snake slide First ride of the day. Small drop tower. But still the ride was quite special. We got stuck for 5 minutes at the top. First moment I thought : dammit, in stead of 4 parks, we will be stuck on this the whole day. But soon I started to take some overview pictures. The drop was very sudden after 5 minutes. The waterride we saw from droptower, was still closed. The boats didn't look too appealing. Teacups Waterplayground for kids I think this is a great place for families with kids during summer. Themed trash can Slide Boatride Oil Pump. I love this ride name. Another kiddie ride Dumbo Love the ride-op's building. First credit Yet another double-8 coaster Thanks to my excellent connections to all german parks, we got of course ERT on this coaster. Wwwwwhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Not a head chopper, but definitely an arm chopper. Hans got stuck in the ride exit Yeah, really like this. Parkmap I believe the 'Hollywood' part in the parkname refers to these drawings. Which are on the outside of this building. Boatride They should use this at the park entrance I think. 2nd credit. Again ERT of course. Ponderosa About the ERT, that was just a joke of course. It felt like ERT though because we were most of the time the only persons at the park. And still, at every ride there was a ride op. Never saw this before at other parks At the other side of the park, you're in the safari part again. Guess what this is in high season !! Another ride It's the Black Fly Crocodileride The buildings are themed to the tiger colour I believe. Wanna play ? Michael wanted to Michael didn't end first. Oil pump in operation. Radiohead found inspiration at this park. The wateride had opened in the meanwhile It has the slowest lifthill ever. After gotten linejumped by a bunch of russians who arrived at the park, it was time for our team to ride. Apart from having the slowest lifthills ever, it also has the craziest drop on a waterride I've ever seen. Linejumping russians loved it. And our team loved it too but you will see that in the video on the next page. DON'T MISS IT !!!!!!!!! jray21
That's awesome that you pretty much had the park to yourself. At first, I thought this was a defunct park that was just sitting there rotting away, I had no clue that it was actually open! I will definitely bring the Nightmare on Elm Street soundtrack when I head out there.
Groteslurf
Yeah, it's great to have a park all to yourselves. The Nightmare on Elmstreet soundtrack should work for every Safari park IMO.
Groteslurf
Second stop of the day. Not really a themepark, but a Alpine/snow park. Actually, I only discovered this park a few days before our departure. But since it was along the route, I decided to include it in the trip. I was very surprised to find an alpine coaster in the Ruhr-area, but it really is there. There is a lot to do, but we only had time for the Alpine coaster After the one at Fort Fun, I was looking forward to ride another one. Absolutely weird to see this place in the heavy industrial Ruhr area. yay ! The ride starts when you leave the station as the lifthill is at the end of the ride. Take the tunnel Too bad this once didn't catch speed at all. Until this steep helix. Suddenly great speed. But immediately after this helix, the end was there unfortunately. Oh well, it was a nice ride and worth while the short stop. See ? Lifthill at the end Everybody in front of me was on our trip. Great area. Some of the other things to do at the Alpinecenter Next stop : CentrO. The park which closed forever after our visit.

Groteslurf
3th stop of the day : CentrO Â We had no clue during our visit, but we were in CentrO on one of it's last operating days. The park is now closed forever and from what I read on other forums, the rides have been dismantled completely already. The CentrO themepark is part of the massive CentrO shopping center complex. The shopping center is huge .... There is also a concert hall, a sealife center, a cinemacomplex, and a lot of places to eat. But this was our reason of our visit. Dead park of course No idea what the giant thing behind the ferris wheel is. Weird splash battle Bee-bee It's a small but really nice park ... and we were lost Ah, found the ferris wheel Really strange building. Shopping center Credit Spinning mouse Hans couldn't wait anylonger and jump in the next available car. Next stop : Movie Park Germany Edited December 12, 2010 by Groteslurf
davidmorton
Giant thing behind the ferris wheel is the Oberhausen gasometer;  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberhausen_gasometer  Was a gasometer, is a art installation type thingy now.

Ledgy
Great update so far. Sad to hear that they definitive close the park. While my last visit they weren't sure what will happen to the park when the Bart family will leave. They searched for a solution for that.

Groteslurf
Final part of our Germany trip : Horror Fest @ MPG. Â This is for sure one of the top Halloween themeparks events in Europe. The vide is so awesome when all the scare actors enter the park at 6 pm sharp. Â Sorry for the late posting. This is almost a Xmas halloween report. Â Enjoy all the Horror Fest scare actors Halloween decoration First maze of the day : Paranormal Activity 2 Crowds were very light the day of our visit. Still, there were considerable waiting times for the mazes. I wonder how they manage to get the large crowds on Saturdays through the mazes. 6 pm Numurous scare actors enter the park. The cloud factory did a great job. Chainsaw guys are the best. Kinky 'Mainen generation' Am I dreaming ? On the left, I don't know what. On the right, my favorite scare actor ever. Chinese horror Dammit, even with all the horror make up, this girl looked SOOOOO beautiful. She couldn't get enough of us, we couldn't get enough of her. Next mave / Deathpital Great views from the waiting row. Oh, and there was a bar in the waiting row. I only wish there would be music and dancers like at Club Roxy (WW) in the waiting area. No, the view of an SLC is not the same as the vibe at Club Roxy. At the rime we entered the maze, it was dark already. Somebody needs help. the Grudge Do you wanna play a game ? Saw time Wrong Club Roxy Next maze Ba Boo Twister Club Thanks EB, Hans, Bart & Michael for the amazing 4 days.

Groteslurf
Very interested in hearing how the paranormal activity 2 maze was/worked. Â To be honest, it's been 2 months since we were there, and I don't really remember all details of the maze. Have you ever been in the previous maze at that place ? I do remember that this year the chainsaw guy held a 'real' chainsaw. So the noise was the chainsaw, while in the previous maze it was only chainsaw noise through loudspeakers. I remember this because I've always thought it was fairly ridiculous in the previous maze. The awesome smoke room right before the end is also still there.
