808Freq Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Consider this: would it be any better if it said: "10-year-old was attacked by teens at waterpark" I don't think the fact the child has special needs should be an issue. If he truly was assaulted in the manner described, it is sad nobody intervened. If he described events that didn't occur that way, however, the situation is changed. Well I'm assuming that the 10 year old without the disability is more capable of defending himself, or trying to escape, and if that's the case.. than it's worse. If the boy unknowingly provoked the kids, i.e. they assumed he was just screwing with them without knowing he had an issue.. than there should have been supervision. Kids can be damned cruel, but most I've ever run across still had a heart for the disabled.
mightbeawannabe Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 With my thinking, the boy might've just wanted some attention. If his mom neglects him by leaving him alone in a water park (DANGEROUS PLACE!!!), he might be neglected in other siuations as well. If this is the case he might want to spend more time with his mom. She might not like the idea of her child having a disorder and thus leaves him alone or avoids him. He may have just punched himself to get the bruises. It's a little far out there but I hope it makes sense.
