Ghosters International(NL coasters)

Recommended Posts

Ghosters International is essentially the same thing as Koolkid, meaning this is an archive for all my coasters. I prefer to design wooden coaster but there will be some steel coasters at some point for sure. Also if anyone is interested at all in teaming up to work on a California Screamin inspired coaster let me know through PM or through commenting. I have always wanted to make one but every time I try I epically fail. I will, however, be making some wooden inspired coasters in the future, mostly based on coasters that seem to be TPR favorites that are not ridicoulasly complicated. Also FYI at the moment I do not use 3ds although I have quite a few, I want to make sure I can use them well and make them look nice before commiting to using them.

COASTER 1: HOUND

For the first time GCI's coaster portfolio is going to include an out and back/twister layout which is somewhat common on rides like ghostrider and was a primary CCI style. The coaster was made for a park in England, which was looking for more of a CCI style coaster than an all out twister. THe ride is themed to a hound chasing a fox in the woods, hence the name Hound.

Track completion-About 70%(I also need to try to smooth out a few parts, its running okay, but not like a GCI should)

Terraforming is at about 5% although I forgot to take a picture. It will be pretty well landscaped considering it is themed to chasing foxes which generally live in hills.

Supports:I am lazy so I will use the auto supporter, it is at zero now but its pretty instant.

Enjoy, updates sometime this week/this weekend.

Well, from the looks of it, I have a couple pieces of advice. First, the transition from lift hill to first drop appears to be WAY too dramatic, meaning that it is not gradual. You go from ascending to descending in a matter of feet, definitely try to smooth that out so its not so crazy of a transition. As an after thought, the reason being that you would put awkward forces on the chain as one half of the train is half way down the hill while the other is still being "carried" up. And then just a pet peeve of mine, don't build 90 degree banking for the sake of building 90 degrees. Build the track based on forces, not banking, find a nice balance between the two and the coaster will be significantly better.

Regardless, I am looking forward to some of your creations.

Thanks guys, yeah, it should take me quite a while to still get this thing done. I am literally about to work on it right now.

^^ By the way it is kind of the picture. I accidentally added a track piece and did not like it, but forgot to remove it before I took the picture, so it distorts the new picture. TPman, the drop is the first thing is being worked on, but how would I do that semi easily without destroying the main first drop?

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey guys, Ghosters is still alive and well, I've just been really busy lately as finals are coming up fast. Anyway, the coaster has been renamed to fox as I decided I like a fox manuevering through terrain.(the next update will feature a lot of terraforming) THe coaster is running pretty well, although there are still some noticable pumps, but it will for sure be released sometime in may. Anyway, onto the pictures oif the newly renamed Fox.

The coaster is nearly done, I am just going to add a helix, and it will end. I also need to terraform, andf I am using in game supports. I will post an overhead picture later tonight or tomorrow as well as more screenshots. However, not too much has changed because a vast majority of my current work is going into smoothing, but I am running a little late for school right now. Thanks for reading and enjoy this small update. Updates will be soon, and check in tonight or tomorrow for a more in deph look @ fox.

These turns have been modified, the original 90 degree turn is now a 65 degree turn. The lake is not necessarily going to be there(I may terraform instead) but it makes interesting pictures

^ Ish, the hill is giving me quite a bit of trouble though. We'll see what happens with it. If worse comes to worse I'll send it to some people who are always in TPR chat and always playing NL. They can probably help me fix the lift(if I cant myself) and I'll just credit them. My next project is in the brainstorming process, but if I am able to do it, it should be pretty unique.

Alright, let's see what we have here...

First off, the apex on the lift is WAY tight. I can see that you are using huge track segments or are designing the ride just plain wrong for that section. I think it's the first one that I mentioned above, as the hill after the 90-degree turn looks very wonky-banked for most of the hill. The coaster wreaks in huge segments...I can just see every vertex in your track without seeing Editor images...

Just some tips. You seem to have a nice layout going, I just predict heavy pumping.

Just to clarify the lake is gone. I lost the file(its on 2 computers...thank god) so the track work is still as it is in my updates, but the terra forming is gone. I will update tomorrow probably, finals are coming very soon, and graduation is only a month and a half away, so I'm kind of busy. Thanks for reading everyone!

I'll use the Jarmor testing method. Next 3 responses get to test a large segment of a new, never before seen "Ghoster." Keep in mind I am still working on hound, and it will be posted here first, but this new ride is awesome so far. I'll pm you if you respond, but I would love ot have testers.

No, I just pressed C, so after the completed segment you'll get about a 100 g turn into the station, but its pretty clear whats done. Anyway, I'll pm it to you, but its pretty unique so far, ride if you want, if not no biggie.
