thrillrider
Ok..... Last summer I did a east coast park trip at several parks. Here are the parks I am including in this multi part trip report. 1. Dollywood 2. Busch gardens williamsburg 3. carowinds 4. Kings dominium 5. Six flags america 6. Six flags new england 7. Six flags great adventure 8. Lake compounce 9. Great escape 10.Hoffmans playland I did all these parks and more in one trip, and plan on doing it again in the next year or two. We also hit kings island, dorney, canadas wonderland and kennywood on this trip, but I will have to post those pictures another time(when I have time). I hope you enjoy these. The first stop of the trip. 305 under construction. The park is in 2 differant states. The parks standup coaster. The first loop on vortex. Vortex lift hill porn. The train. This coaster is just...well.....ok The hurler. I really liked this coaster. Not sure why a lot of people dislike it. Even amy liked it. Meh.... You get the idea. The park has some great theming. This was one of the better mine rides I have been on. Just needs to be a little longer though. The station. Another train full of happy people. The relocated boomerang from geauga lake. I like the color scheme. The new style train and restraints, make the ride really enjoyable. Scooby doo dark ride. Nighthawk from the back. What a deal for a pizza. Nighthawk from the front. Even though it's a vekoma, it's still a great looking coaster. Afterburn...... Trying to be artsy. This coaster was a lot of fun. It was fast , and had an intense footprint. The parks racing coaster. The station. Edited April 7, 2010 by jedimaster1227
thrillrider
Ok, so here we are at Dollywood now. I have been to dollywood several times before, so we were able to spend only a half a day here, and travel to the next park. I really like dollywood, the employees are as good, if not better than Disney employees. The food at this park rocks as well. We arrived at Dollywood around noon. They had sand carvings all around the park. This was one of my favorates. Just look at the details. Dollywood has a great bird show. My daughter was not quite tall enough to ride mystery mine. I was finnaly able to ride the mountain sidewinder. Sidewinder beginning. This ride looked like a blast.....but.... This does not look like fun. Broken....no good. On of the top 10 wooden coasters I have been on. Awsome looking fan turn. Any park that has green fried tomatos, is o-k with me. The grist mill. The parks log flume ride(name escapes me). On the way to the next park, we ran accross this billboard. Gotta love the south..lol
thrillrider
Well here it is day 3 already. At this point, we were starting to get blisters on our feet from all the walking. But like the hardcore coaster nuts we are, we moved foreword to our next park Busch gardens williamsburg. At this point, my daughter was only interested in "sleep" the ride. Yayyyy....we made it. We were greeted by this beautiful looking coaster. I love the attention busch gardens pays to landscaping. Ok....where to first? I love these coaster dynamx models. This is one of the most beautiful parks in the states. Look what I found!!! This coaster ij just amazing to watch (and ride). This ride can handle a LOT of people at one time. Griffon's lift and first drop. Next up.... Twisty goodness. I love the theming of this ride. Lift hill. Darkcastle is a great dark ride. I love the festhouse. They have some awsome eats, at a good price. See.... I can get 2 rib dinners for the price of 1 pizza at carowinds. Not a bad deal. Sigh........ Sigh...... 25th(and last) year of operation. Sigh....... I am going to miss this shot. Great theming. Ejector air anyone? Glad these were empty today. Airtime goodness. Whats a bull whacker? Merry go round. Can't forget to give nessie some love. One last ride on griffon before we head to park #4. Edited April 13, 2010 by thrillrider

thrillrider
After a short drive from busch gardens, we arrived at kings dominion around 10 pm the night before. We have been to this park before, and really like it. If I had to complain about anything about this park, it would be the bad and high priced food. Other than that, it's hard to find a negative thing about this park. They have a great collection of coasters, and are adding another coaster. Can you guess where we are? I bet I am the only one who has this shot. Geauga lakes ferris wheel. Anaconda lift hill. Wild mouse. You seen one, youv'e seen them all. Hurler......take 2. The well marked sign for grizzley. It's hard to get a good shot of this ride, as it is in the woods. Dominator loop. Shocwave...the parks stand up coaster. It looks like some kind of midevil torture device. Valcano....the blast coaster. Avalanch lift hill. Dominator from the tower. Paging Mr clean....... I think all Q lines should have a spot to watch for line jumpers. This is a great idea. The crypT One last look at avalanch, before we head out to our next park. This ended up being my daughters favorate ride in the park. The crew was nice enough to just let her stay on for the last hour the park was open. Edited April 7, 2010 by thrillrider

thrillrider
This was my first trip to a six flags park this year, so the first thing I did was head to the season pass office. I was suprised to find the price of a season pass was the same price as a one day ticket. And to even sweeten the deal, you get a free ticket for a friend as well. It has been several years since I have been to this park, and I have to say that it's really improved. It was much cleaner, and the employees were great. I was impressed that the rides host's were doing a great job of not stacking trains. Here we are. Is it just me, or does Mr six look like a burn victum? At this point, I started to drool. But I had to stop and ride jokers jinx first. This is one of the best spagetti bowls I have been on. I skipped Batwing, as I had been on it before. The best ride in the park hands down. Just look at those bunnies. Ok....I tried to skip this ride, but it was a walk on, so I got cornswaggled into it. Here is a shot of the not so comfy trains. Roar was a decent coaster. There were a few ruff spots, but also some great pops of air. This was the worst coaster of the entire trip. We sat in the front row, and got delt a beating like no other. The wild one was having some problems, so we decided to hit the rest of the park. Someone said that this portion of the ride was re-profiled. Anyone know about that? I see you in the bushes ultra twister. I got my skull mountain credit. We left six flags early so that we can get the credit at hoffmans playland, but sadly it was closed. I see a credit. You can see the entire park from the parking lot. Looks like I will have to plan another trip out to hoffmans.
thrillrider
I was going to put it all in one report, but I thought you had to keep it to around 25 pictures per report. That's why I am doing it this way.
Thelegendarymatthew
That has to suck that you didn't get the credit form that small park. I got this from another member, but its always good to call the park. Asking what rides are open, and other important information that the park can answer. Well, you seem to be having a good time, even if you didn't get to ride Wild One. I also have to agree with you about Mind Eraser. Probably one of the worst coasters I have ever rode in my lifetime. -Matt

Thelegendarymatthew
^I may be wrong, but I think this is from the TPR trip that was held last year. If not that, then it was probably just a solo trip that happened to have similar parks In the picture with the caption "Paging Mr clean.......". The picture itself is funny, just because there is about three billion trash cans in every corner. May I also ask where the first sign is at? I don't think I have seen that before. -Matt
ArizonaGuy
What year is this from and what happened the first 3 days?? (plus spell check Dominion) BTW I have to agree that KD's food has always been bad....never get a Burger at KD Edit: ohh OK you have a different thread for everyday. IMO it captures your trip report better if you put it all in one thread. Nice pics though JEFF LOL yeh.....spell check Dominion. Considering he has a picture of the Kings Dominion sign at the front of the park you'd think it would have been spelled right.
thrillrider
Ok. So after leaving sfa, we headed north for 2 days at sfga. This has to be one of my favorite parks as they have a great collection of coasters. Just like sfa, this park has gotten 10 times better than it was on my first visit a few yars back. Even the managers were walking around picking up trash and just saying "hi" to everyone. This was my first time back since they added El Toro, and now I have a new favorite wooden coaster. I was blown away by El Toro. I think we are going the right way. First stop....nitro. Skull mountain. The parks indoor coaster. Skull mountain station. Medusa....I mean bizzaro. The best coaster on the east coast. Intamin pre fab greatness. Drool...... Gasm. I really like this coaster. I don't get the headbanging like other people for some reason. Nice pair!!! Superman. The beemer version is soooo much better than the vekoma. The station. The golden kingdom. This park has some great theming. Log ride splash. Wonder butt. The park had a living statue. I thought that was a great touch. Dark knight coaster. Batman coaster. The worlds longest coaster train. Not sure why this section of the park was closed. All that's left of Mr freeze. Ok....It's not a rat. So what is it? The next morning, we started off by doing the drive thrue animal safari. The lions were very active this morning. I love that they have used an old piece from gasm for the animals to play on. Me and the burn victim. Even M&M's hate slc coasters. The tiger show was very good. I can't remember what they call this, but it was pure bliss. We took a few more spins on El Toro, and headed out to our next park on the list. A113
All that's left of Mr freeze Don't you mean Batman the Chiller? Anyways, cool TR. I totally did not know about them using GASM's loop in the zoo.
spaceace12
I can't remember what they call this, but it was pure bliss. I made these in a food booth at a couple festivals, the place where I worked called them ribbon fries. Never had one myself though.
thrillrider
After having a great time at sfga, we headed to six flags New England. This is a smaller park that reminds me of geauga lake(size wise), and had some interesting rides. I couldn't wait to ride bizzaro, as I have heard so much hype about the ride.I was really disappointed with bizzaro, mainly because of the lap bar. For some reason, they felt the need to staple the lap bar. Not only that, but the lap bar lands in a weird posistion on your legs. Other than that, I liked this park. The woodies were great, and the workers were fast and friendly. Can you guess what park is next? The park is on the other side of the M&M bridge. The main gate. The park was dead today, as there was a chance of rain all day. Thunderbolt is a classic coaster. It was in need of some new paint though. Next up was bizzaro The coaster had a great layout. The jokers wildcard. For some reason I could not ride it because I was too tall. The catwomans whip. Batman dark knight. Lift hill p.o.v I rode this once just to get the credit. The sky ride here rocked. You sit in a big ball. Flashback and cyclone. Pandemonium Pandemonium This ride was as much fun as an slc. The cyclone. This has to be one of the most underated coasters. I could not get enough of this coaster. Houdini's something.....can't remember the name, but it was a sweet ride. The waiting area for the ride has some props. The rides seating. Hit the cyclone a few more times before the rain started falling and the park closed.

BaMiTsPaT
Glad to see you had a good time at SFNE...sorry to hear about your Bizarro experience but I do agree that Cyclone is underrated...ps I don't think I saw a single person in any of those pictures
thrillrider
Just a short drive from six flags New England, was lake compounce. The park is owned by the same people that operate kennywood park. I was suprised by this little park. It is a well run park with some great rides. Lake compounce is located just accross the street from ESPN . This is what you see once you enter the park. Any park that has a rotor, is ok with me. The zoomerang was a good boomerang. Not too much head banging. I see you boulder dash. This was one great coaster. Bliss..... The wildcat was brutal. But it looks pretty. Fried bats?
thrillrider
Yea, like I said the park was dead due to the threat of rain all day. They ended up closing the park when it started to rain, but that was fine because we had been on everything several times. There were no lines at all. thrillrider
By this point in the trip, we were like zombies. I couldn't wait to get to great escape. It was one of those parks I have always wanted to get to , but something always got in the way of that. So we made sure that we were able to fit it in on this trip. The park is not that big, but it has a nice charm about it. Yayyy...we finnaly made it. The park entrance. I had fun messing with the sasquatch. Alpine bobsleds. I think this came from magic mountain. Bobsleds layout. The comet I doubt this is rated the #1 coaster in the world, but it was fun none the less. The comet is an out and back with some good pops of airtime. Yayyy....another boomerang. I think this castle is bigger than Disneylands. The canyon blaster coaster. DONKEYS!!!!! The red garter saloon. Where have I seen this before?? This is the name of the parks corkscrew coaster. It's also what I left in the restroom after eating at taco bell. The coaster was lots of fun. I have had good luck with arrow coasters on this trip. The park also had some classic rides as well.
