kingsdominionlvr
I went down to Kings Dominion today and got some pictures. Hope you like them and be sure to give me your thoughts. The new, improved skyline of Kings Dominion I305 still looks gigantic from the parking lot I am pretty sure these are the old King Cobra trains from KI. On Volcano, this is where most people start to scream! Ironic, A race car in a field right next to Intimidator 305 Old KD Truck #2 Old KD Truck #1 Another perspective further down Doswell Rd. The slim catwalk of I305, almost done The very nice looking first drop Go America! At the bottom are Anaconda and Rebel Yell Good view of how giant I305 really is Second Hill of I305 is almost done Always gotta start out the day with some Taco Bell
angryemobeaver
Excellent photos, I love seeing photos of coasters from outside the park.
eddie200330
I am still amazed at how much taller this ride is compared to Rebel Yell and Anaconda. BTW, nice pic of the Volcano launch. Ahhhh Togo stand up trains!! I would love to have one of them sitting in my backyard!
kingsdominionlvr
^The pictures really don't do the coaster as much justice as actually seeing it. I am sure it will be most impressive from the top of the lift looking down right before you descend down the hill and into the right turn. Glad you liked my picture of Volcano, to be honest I had no idea of the proximity Volcano has to Doswell Road before I went up there to get the pictures of I305. It definitely was a lot different seeing Volcano from that angle. As for the King Cobra trains, they made me just cringe thinking from memories coming off Shockwave aching. But, the trains are sort of pieces of roller coaster history! I am sure Pagal would rather see them back behind the Flight of Fear Building. Shockwave will always need a parts donor as long as it stands.
Speeddeamon128
Nice pics. It has been a few days since I checked the web cam.
Skycoastin Steve
It's absolutely incredible to see just how big that ride is compared to everything else around it. I can't imagine how tall it would look if Drop Zone and the Eiffel Tower weren't there.
pkdcoaster
Awesome! thanks for the update. I have been back there about 4 times since vetical const. started and I don't ever remember seeing the KK trains. I wonder if they just arrived or if they have been there a while. The 2nd hill looks so tiny. it is gonna be flying over it. from the route 30 pic it does not even look like it is half the size of the lift hill. kingsdominionlvr
^I believe the King Cobra trains have been there a while someone had told me about them a while back, I just never bothered to go check them out. If you get a chance to go back down to Kings Dominion, they are on Doswell Road, right behind the Flight of Fear Building. As for the second hill the only thing I could find off the Intimidator 305 website (on the statistics page) said "Length of other drops: 150ft". What that means is a bit unclear to me considering they used the plural of drop, and they are saying length instead of height. IF they are referring to the second hill, which is a bit doubtable, that would mean the right turn would have to shave off a lot of speed! I don't really understand what "length of others drops" means, but you are very correct that the second hill is a lot smaller than the first. As long as it provides some nice airtime I really don't care how tall it is, but I am still curious to know the height of the second hill.
Capitalize
They still have the old Days of Thunder Mellow Yellow car on property? Thats pretty cool. I'd love to buy it and fix it up. Awesome pictures, I can't wait to see this thing all finished!

The second hill is about 150' and is a very drawn-out camelback if you look at the render it looks to be a VERY long sustained period of floater air at the least

I'd love to buy it and fix it up. Awesome pictures, I can't wait to see this thing all finished! I believe there were also an old faded Jeff Gordan car and perhaps an old Sterling Marlin car. They were back behind a few other trucks, so I could not get a very good picture. Where those part of Days of Thunder as well? I just moved down to Virginia 2004 so I never really got a chance to check Days of Thunder out.
Capitalize
^ Thats interesting, it was so long ago and I was so young I can't remember what cars were on display other then the 51 car from the movie (as opposed to the 42 car that Kyle Petty actually drove at the time). I wouldn't be surprised if they were display/theme items back when the ride first opened, though; I think I vaguely remember a Jeff Gordon car because my family hated Jeff Gordon back then . It's kind of sad to have somewhat historical stuff like that back there rusting when collectors/fans would probably love to get their hands on them... kingsdominionlvr
Yeah, it is sad. It is not just the race cars setting back there, also the old Kings Dominion trucks that I had in the pictures. It would be awesome to see them recycled into something for the new I305, or at least put auction for coaster/nascar fans. Right now though, they seem to be in pretty bad condition, so I doubt anyone would pay more than they are worth for scrap metal for the cars. I would be more interested in obtaining the King Cobra cars , but as I said before Shockwave needs a parts donor because it is probably a bit hard to come across replacement parts for Togo coasters. Also, just wanted to throw in you can see the complete collection of all of the photos I took yesterday in a little bit better quality here (in a slideshow). http://s686.photobucket.com/albums/vv227/kingsdominionrulez/December%2012th%20Kings%20Dominion%20Pictures/?albumview=slideshow
