OFFice357 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 This coaster has been sitting in a dark corner of my hard drive collecting dust. It's my take on the Vekoma boomerang. The color scheme is kind of random but I didn't build it for show, just as a concept. I decided to fix it up a little and upload it. Here you go! Flying Bat Flanges.nltrack Here's an overview of the layout.
kumba830 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Would have never have thought of something like that! But If you make the ride a bit longer it could be pretty cool. Like a few hills or something.
OFFice357 Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Yeah, I may extend the layout in the future, but right now I don't have much free time so it may not happen for a while.
themeparkman25 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I think that it looks like a fun coaster for sure, but again, just a little short. That is not my concern however. To me, the valley section above the station that is supported solely by two diagonal supports is the problem. I just imagine on a colder day with a full train, that that section of track would "droop" and really take some stress. Just a pointer, besides that it looks great.
Lalle555 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I've made this coaster a couple of times in RCT2 & 3. But I have to agree with the previous; it's a bit short but a great concept non the less!
paintballer Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Maybe do a 180 turn the flip 180 degrees and then another 180 turn. Get it?
OFFice357 Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 Thanks for the input guys! themeparkman25 - Yeah I agree with you. Again, I don't have much free time but when I do get back to working on this coaster I will make sure to tend to that issue. paintballer - I don't really get it, could you elaborate? Thanks!
jarmor Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 the second spike would have to be in the lay position incase of an estop and evalcuation. Right now if the trains would be upside down if had to estop
OFFice357 Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 ^True, but I would imagine that if this ride were real, Vekoma or the creators would create some kind of mechanism that would raise, or in this case lower the train in the opposite direction in the case of an e-stop. I'm just assuming though.
jarmor Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 That would be a nightmare if the trains can unhinge at both the top and bottom. what if the entire train just "fell" of both the unhinging devices failed lol
themeparkologist Posted December 18, 2009 Posted December 18, 2009 This is awesome if way too short but its fun. I like the freefall feeling over the station. Howd the ride be evacuated if you were on the on your back part because your feet are above you? I know its confusing but so's the coaster. It fits
