Skycoastin Steve Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Ok so this really doesn't count as a "trip report," considering I work there, but these pictures are way, way, way too good to not share with my coaster enthusiast brethren. DISCLAIMER: These pictures, especially the ones in the low zone, were taken with every safety precaution in mind. I was extremely careful in making sure that the close-ups of the track were taken while the ride was in the station and not running. I have no desire to be in the news as the idiot employee decapitated by the speeding coaster.
robbalvey Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Great stuff! I love photos like this: Rampage was running **INSANE** when TPR visited! Has there been any talk about doing work on it over the off-season to fix some of the potholes? Other than those areas on the ride it was running as good as I remember it when it opened 10+ years ago! --Robb
jjune4991 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Awesome photos!!! I especially like the one that Robb liked, and the last pic of the loop!

Other than those areas on the ride it was running as good as I remember it when it opened 10+ years ago! --Robb I have it on good authority that the major potholes will be fixed in the offseason. They did a ton of retracking in the curves and on some of the valleys of hills last offseason, and it turned out great. So we're all hoping the track repairs will go just as well this year.
Skycoastin Steve Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Oh, and yes Robb, Rampage was rip-your-face-off intense the TPR night, but we rode it after closing on Closing Day, and it was by far the most intense rides I've ever had on it. Even more so than the TPR night. And that was also the consensus of everyone that rode. Something about that ride in the pitch black, I don't know what it is, but it just transforms into psychosis.
Paul_Hollibone Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Good to see my Demon/ Zoomerang is doing well. I notice it has also been given a new train colour design. Say hello to her for me! Sorry, back on topic.
downunder Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Nice photos, Rampage just has an excellent layout, it looks so impressive - the TPR ERT was impressive so it must have been mind blowing when you rode it. Man those potholes really sucker punched a lot of people during ERT. Being from Sydney, I can't say I miss Zoomerang, you are welcome to it. I really liked the bumper cars at AA, they were brutal. The water park looks great even though I didn't get to it.
bgwfreak777 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Nice pics and glad to hear the pot holes will be fixed. I was down there in July I think it was and loved it and would've made my top 10 if it hadn't been for those bone-jarring potholes.
Skycoastin Steve Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 The water park looks great even though I didn't get to it. The water park is decent enough. UpSurge is phenomenal though, awesome ride design.
ohiocoasters Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Great pictures! AA looks like a great little park and Rampage looks crazy! Was it AA that got CP's old afro fountain?
CoasterGuy06 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Yes, Alabama Adventure did install Cedar Point's old fountain.
deathbydinn Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Rampage looks amazing. It's on my list of coasters that I need to ride before I die. Just wondering is Megaphobia (i think thats what it's called) at Oakwood anywhere near as insane as Rampage? I've seen POVs of both of them and they look almost identical.
Skycoastin Steve Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 ^Rampage's layout is largely based on Megafobia, which was built a few years prior to Rampage. Rampage is practically the exact same, only bigger, as Megafobia all the way up until the last little bunny hop, and then the ending sections are different.
