Orez Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Monday, August 3rd 2009 Just visited the park this past week and had an absolutely great time. The lines were not long at all. Though disappointed that Griffon would be closed today. The longest wait would be around 40 minutes but overall lines were short. First, we headed towards Italy, went on Apollo's Chariot front row and had a smooth and fun time, the line was about 5 minutes, extra 3 minutes for front row. Then we headed towards the Roman Rapids and had a soaking good time on it. Also, we went on the Battering Ram, which was fun competing for the loudest side swinging back and forth. Then we went on Roman Rapids, and it was a very well themed ride. The theming, was great and it had some of the best fire effects I have ever seen. Felt like an oven in it though with it already being around 90 with humidity outside. The drop was smooth and enjoyable. Also we rode Alpengeist which was smooth and fun, and had lunch at Trapper's Smokehosue which was great. Got the platter. Then we went on the Skyride avoiding the new Elmo land . We landed in Germany and went though to Oktoberfest and went on DarKastle. DarKastle was absolutely disappointing. It seemed as the ride has lost its potential and experience. The wait was long and hot. The pre-show room wasn't used and the doors were wide open with no one looking. Then we got our glasses which were soaking wet and flimsy. Through the ride was disappointing as sound was etchy and at parts off. The idea seemed great, though part of the time it was gray and broken. Then we walked to Big Bad Wolf to get our final ride on. Line was around 15 minutes. It was fun and fast. Sad to see this ride going so fast. The village scenery was great. Then we decided to cross the bridge to go ride Nessie, and soon smiles began to grow upon our faces. As we saw people riding on Griffon! We soon ran to France to get out ride, and the time wait was an hour but was actually around 30 minutes. It was one of my favorite ride experiences. Hand wide up around me, gazing upon the park and watching in terror as we soon fell on the nearly 200 foot drop. Swishing, and soaring was our favorite sensation. So glad to see it being opened. Then my sister, and I went to ride Nessie, which was a walk on and had a fun time in the cave of helixes, which was fun with screaming of laughter being abroad the train. The loops gave sensation throughout our faces. Nessie was fun and was a fast paced ride. Though, soon as our day eroded we left, to eat at Carraba's and soon to our hotel. A few photo's:
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I envy you for getting to ride Big Bad Wolf before it gets taken down...I won't be travelling anymore this year after August. Love your pictures, especially that 2nd last one of angle of Griffon.
deguy123 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Sounds like a good time! I'm glad someone went on a Monday because I'm heading there on the 24th of August. I'm counting down the days!

I'm counting down the days! ^^^ I too will be there Monday August 24th while visiting my family in DC... Glad to hear that the experience was so great and am looking forward to seeing that park after not visiting for about 15 years. It will be a bittersweet visit with the BBW closing, but that is the reason we changed our plans from visiting Hershey to going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I don't suppose that you grabbed any pictures to post of the BBW (?!)... either way, glad that you had a great time. Thanks for the pictures. Really looking forward to my visit.

dammie16@vt.edu Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I love Carraba's because they always have an awesome selection of fatastic Dry Chianti's! Great trip report I will not get on BBW again this year since I will be going back for Halloween.
Orez Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Thanks guys. And sorry for no pics of BBW, as I had limited time of taking pictures.
coasterfan21 Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Great pics, and you are so lucky to be able to ride Big Bad Wolf before its gone. I was planning on heading down there next summer, and I was looking forward to riding BBW, obviously thats not going to happen.
Orez Posted August 8, 2009 Author Posted August 8, 2009 That's a bummer. I'm fortunate to have rode it.
