Waldameer Park Questions

Recommended Posts

This Saturday I plan on going to Waldameer. It will be my first visit to the park and I have a few questions:

I am going to the park to ride Ravine Flyer II, but what are some of the other must see attractions at the park?

I know its a small park, but I was just wondering if there would be a very big crowd on a weekend?

And finally, should I get the POP pass, or should I pay for the rides individually?

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to ask originally, but do they run the rides in the rain? Thanks for the help again.

As far don't miss rides,Steel Dragon is a fantastic spinning coaster that was a real surprise during my trip there.Their drop tower, while not the biggest, was also really good.Comet is a classic junior coaster my kids loved.

We were there on a Saturday and it was busy, but nothing that was unmanageable.Try to ride RF2 at night it was a different animal than during than day and the views of the lake at sunset were incredible.

I would recommend the POP.There is a lot to do there and you shouldn't miss anything.

Their new ride "Mega Vortex" is pretty fun, but it's just a normal Disk-O.

Yes, buy the POP, the tickets aren't all that cheap, so you'll get you moneys worth in like 4 rides.

As said, the other must-dos are X-Scream and Steel Dragon.

As stated, ride X-Scream and Steel Dragon, they are underated. Buy the Pop tickets, the waterpark is nice and the slides are fun. I also request the Pirates Cove and Whacky Shack. These are two classics created by Bill Tracey that are rare to find. These are fun attractions and fun for the family. I went this summer to Waldameer on a saturday and it wasn't very packed. Surprisingly, the Whacky Shack had the longest line all day, and then the Ravine Flyer, but that's because they only had one train running.

Ravine Flyer 2 from day and night are like totally different rides... both equally as awesome, but night rides get faster, and the tunnels seem longer, and more unexpected.

X-Scream may not look that tall, but due to the parks hillside location, when you're near the top, all you can see is the peninsula and the drop is really good.

POP bands are def. the way to go if you want to ride more than 4 rides. Hell, one ride alone on RF2 is $4.50 worth of tickets.

This Saturday shouldn't be that bad crowd wise, as there are a lot of festivities down the road (Roar on the Shore) so less crowds will be at Waldameer.

Don't miss anything at the park... it's easy to do everything at least two times, and it's a great little park.

I just got back from Waldameer. The weather was crap today, which means I wasn't able to take enough pictures to make a Photo TR.

Of all the rides at Waldameer, Ravine Flyer 2 is definitely the best. You absolutely have to ride it. X-scream is also pretty cool, as well as Steel Dragon, although personally I think they're a bit over-hyped. Wacky Shack was OK, it's definitely not the best of Bill Tracey, but it was still enjoyable. I guess Pirates Cove is also worthwhile, as well as Comet. Other than that, nothing particularly stands out. But overall, and despite the weather, it turned out to be a great park and well worth the drive.

All of this is making me excited to go to this small little park. It will be a different experience for me as I have never been to a park that wasn't corporately owned and I look forward to seeing a small little classic park.
