  1. Valravn for me too. Good addition to the park but it did not do anything more for me than Sheikra or Griffon.
  2. I was there on Sunday and I think things are definitely heading in the right direction.Hurricane and Cornball had a lot of new wood and were running well.Cornball felt a little tamer than I recall, the spots of air I remember were not there but it was generally smooth.Hoosier Hurricane had one small jolt in the valley before the turnaround but much better than last year.LoCoSuMo is still a problem child though,it was up and down all day and I didn't get a chance to ride it. There was a lot of new paint and signage and the employees seemed very friendly. It felt more like the Indiana Beach that we all like rather than the last couple of years that most would agree were forgettable.
  3. ^^^ If I remember correctly,Skylab was removed due to ongoing mechanical issues. It was a Giant Enterprise and had a lot more issues than the standard model.I can't remember which year it was but the park dismantled the ride and sent it back to Huss for repair and it came back to the park a season later. I do remember hearing that the final accident that caused it's removal was when the wheel stopped spinning when in a vertical position causing some injuries when the people were tossed around in the cars.I'm not completely sure about that last part but I did hear it from multiple friends that were working at the park.
  4. ^^^I know Hamilton County does that but since we moved to Butler County the sirens are now only during a tornado warning. You would think this would be a uniform rule across Ohio so people don't get confused.
  5. ^^I may be wrong, but I believe RCCA was the original builder but then construction was finished by Kings Island after a dispute. The trains that came from the Pavilion were Gerstlauer's not PTC's.I did not like those trains any more than the Premiers, they had more leg room but there was not enough padding.I remember reading somewhere RCCA is out business.
  6. Did they do something to the trough on the log flume?I saw Reon alluding to it being painful in a different thread.I also read a similar statement on a different board. If they did,was it just the turnaround after the drop?I have never noticed anything out of the ordinary in prior years. Also, it looks like the elephant was removed,I for one am glad to see it gone.
  7. I see some of the parks put a limit on the amount of discount tickets you can buy per membership. With a park like Holiday World that lists no limit, would I be able to get discount admissions for my wife and kids with just my card or would they need their own membership card?
  8. Either way, they got a lot of media coverage which in the end benefits them. The thing that bothers me is all the coverage and uproar seems to be over the fact the McNair and Heath Ledger displays depict the method of their death. Why are the media or the "offended" not as concerned over the Sonny Bono display? His passing should mean no less and it didn't involve adultery or abusing prescription drugs.I've read some people think it is too soon. But how do you determine when the time is right?I personally think this is a lot of bluster over nothing.I think there are more important issues in life to worry about. But at the same time if you are going to make a fuss be consistent.
  9. I wonder if this could really be the end or will they try to fix it again? Son of Beast To Remain Closed
  10. As far don't miss rides,Steel Dragon is a fantastic spinning coaster that was a real surprise during my trip there.Their drop tower, while not the biggest, was also really good.Comet is a classic junior coaster my kids loved. We were there on a Saturday and it was busy, but nothing that was unmanageable.Try to ride RF2 at night it was a different animal than during than day and the views of the lake at sunset were incredible. I would recommend the POP.There is a lot to do there and you shouldn't miss anything.
  11. ^ I have to disagree with your opinion.I have stayed at all the value resorts with my family and I believe the Pop Century is the best one.All of the resorts are so very similar besides the theming, that the only thing that really separates them is the bus service. The Movies,Sports and Music all shared the same bus route and that can really be a pain to deal with.As far as loud guests go,that could happen anywhere, but ask to stay away from the pool area. That reduces the problem.
  12. A friend and I were at Kings Island for the opening of Face/Off in what was a cold, rainy, slow moving line, when the guy in front me grabs his kids by the arms and storms off because and I quote "I cant believe it is the opening night and they are only running one train!".No kidding.
  13. After riding it in it's latest incarnation,my personal opinion is that while it is a tolerable,re-ridable coaster,it is still not that great of a ride after the second hill. The G-trains are way more comfortable and surprisingly give a faster, smoother feeling ride. They are an upgrade to the Premier trains. The helices are still the same, the first feeling fast but rough(but not as bad as before) and the second being boring at best.I really wish they could have done something more with the loop replacing track. But at the same time, the lines seem to be longer than they had been over the last couple of seasons. So while there is still some interest or curiosity for now, I don't believe it will ever be that highly regarded.
