Sir Clinksalot Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Why don't you post something in the main roller coaster board about this to get some more excitement? Like maybe a poll or something to see who might be interested. I'm all for these, but I won't be able to contribute much since we have so many other things going on. But if you guys don't mind doing it, let me know whatever support you need and I'll jump in. --Robb Thanks for the comment Robb, it's much appreciated. Crispy and I don't mind doing it at all, I can't speak for crispy but I enjoy doing this kind of thing. I'm just working on some custom avatars as rewards for the winners. I've been pleasantly surprised by how positive in general the feedback for this is. It's nice to know that you support this ! Cheers, Pucechan
coasterdude5 Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 I'm just working on some custom avatars as rewards for the winners. You might also want to create banners for signatures, also. Some folks might want to keep their avatar. Just a thought.

coasterdude5 Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 I'm not sure if this has been said before, but I think we need to set some rules. Like a specific type of coaster. Because someone might use a harder coaster like the spinning wild mouse, and then another might use a launched. I just, IMO, think it'd be easier to have one choice. We could still allow both games.
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Yep, once we announce the first challenge it will have a specific coaster type listed. I believe it's a straightforward Wooden Coaster, no mine train or anything like that, just the Wooden Coaster. Also, all the rules will be set out in the post as well as how people should submit their coaster/parks. But for those that want to get some practice in before the announcement, the basic conditions for the first challenge are: To design a rollercoaster using the Coaster Designer in any RCT (1, 2 or 3 entries are allowed) that meet the following criteria. * Must fit within a 15x15 grid including the entrance and exit * Must be a regular Wooden Coaster, not ANY Wooden Variety (i.e. no Wooden Wild Mouse or Side Friction Coasters) * Must have an Excitement rating higher than 7 and an Intensity rating less than 8 So there you go, go practice, I'm sure that me and crispy will have an official thread started with the complete rules for submission and entry very soon. Be warned, the conditions may change but that should at least give you eager beavers something to play with for practice.
Hattuchili Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Yeah, thats sounds good! I can not wait to start the competition! --Sören

I'm kinda looking forward to this... I just was messing around and managed to make some insane looking corkscrew coasters in 3 in a 10x10 and got close to the 7 excitement and 8 intensity.

Thanks for that, I haven't played RCT1 for awhile, you can still save coaster designs though right ? in which case you just need to make sure you don't use scenery etc. Yeah it should be fun, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone creates !
BiCoastal Kid Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Just put it this way. Flat ground, 15x15, no theming, no tunnels.
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 ^ yeah if only it was that simple! I'm really crap at this :crying:
crispy Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 just make sure the grid is turned on so we can see it There is going to be a delay of a couple of days, but it will be worth it have patients, the basics are laid out, go ahead and start, but the "official" start of the competition won't be fo a few days
AllisonY2K Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 4-seater? 6-seater? 6-seater reversed? articulated? (talking about car types) or doesn't matter?
robbalvey Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 The only thing I ask is that once you get all the 'rules' and stuff sorted out, PM them for me so I can put my stamp of 'approval.' Not that I think there will be any issues or anything, it's just that remember that everything on the site is consider endorsed by us, so we need to make sure everything is good. Thanks for doing this! --Robb
kenshinmac Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 We need an approved by robb seal... Quick who can make it... I need to make an icon with it when someone creates it... Another thought... Can we get that charicature of Robb on that sign from his latest trip involved somehow?

Thanks for doing this! --Robb No problem Robb, Crispy and I have been talking over stuff, as soon as we have anything concrete we'll definitely get it to you. I know crispy is particularly eager. Just having the seal of approval on the idea is great, you'll be the first to know about all this before we post anything major!
kenshinmac Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Yes but who is going to create the seal? It seriously needs to have the robb head from this sign. It just looks so official...
crispy Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 I had to do it But i only have paint on this computer oh well, here is my sucky version of the ALVEY SEAL OF APPROVAL
AllisonY2K Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 I'm partial to mine. Ooo! Ooo! how about an avatar contest for the "Alvey approved" avatar? don't just approve it, Alvey Approve it! (found in select drug stores nationwide. also available in cherry)
kenshinmac Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Sweet... Can you guys like throw transparent backgrounds in? Maybe then it could be thrown over random images and stuff...
AllisonY2K Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 One step ahead of ya. with and without the text.
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 ^You mean practicing all day didn't help? Huh? Do you mean me? I wasn't practising all day. So there.
