djg5gsu Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Hi everyone, My name's DJ -- long time lurker and rec.roller-coaster poster. I'm taking a trip from New York City (home) to L.A. from June 20-27. I plan on going to a number of parks while I'm down there -- SFMM, Disneyland, DCA, Knott's. Two questions: 1) Anyone want to join me for all or part? I've never been to these parks 2) Any hints/tips/recommendations? Good places for discount tickets? Good places to eat? I'll be staying with a friend in Covina. In case I don't see a response here, my e-mail is djg5gsu@gmail.com. Let me know! I'd love to have company! I am 27 and am very nice, despite being from NYC
KBrylczyk Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Hey man, I'm from Jersey. Chalk up another "we get a bad rep" guy, haha. I'd love to come along, but I'm up to my neck in students loans. Gotta love how they jump on ya immediately after graduation to pay them off, hahaha. If you're a AAA member definitely give them a check for discounts. I know they have a deal with six flags (I got SFNE for $28 flat last week), but I'm unsure on Disney and Cedar Fair. As for a good place to eat, I HIGHLY recommend this little place called In N Out Burger. Maybe you've heard of it, but its strictly a west coast chain, which sucks for us. I went to the one in Vegas and almost had a religious experience, hahaha.
tatsuflyspeedfear Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 ^ you are making me HUNGRY! Good thing I got a In-n-Out up the street (and a SFMM too)
GivenOneChance Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I'm a southern California native. Looks like you're about to embark on an adventure here! They're all great parks. I know that Six Flags MM honors the can of coke deal (buy 1 ticket, get a 2nd free). As for Knotts, they probably have some promotion floating around where you can get discount tickets at Ralphs or something... you never know...I haven't been up on it lately as I have no window to take a trip down to Knotts any time soon. I haven't been to Disneyland in years though. In reiteration of what was said above, check out In And Out Burger as well as Del Taco....some good fast food locations located only in the west I recall. They're my favorite fast food locations, and I'm sure this sentiment is shared by many California residents. Enjoy your trip!
rba13 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 I would get a Six Flag season pass for one of their parks if I lived out East and was traveling to SFMM. More bang for the buck. You can use them at other Six Flags parks.
