ghost007jas Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I know that Magic Mountain PTRs are about a dime a dozen these days, but I felt it necessary to share with everyone what a fantastic day I had at the park. I honestly can not say I have had a better experience at any amusement park (With the exception of say, Disneyland) in my life - which shocked the crap out of me. Anyway, I'll tell my story through the pictures, because I don't like reading these introductory paragraphs anymore than you do. In fact, probably less than you do. Thanks for reading! I'll be back on Termination Day . That, in addition to lightning fast Terminator crews (They are awarded my tip of the hat) friendly employees and a clean park made for a fantastic day at the park. So in conclusion, the flashpass assisted us in skipping hours and hours of lines (more or less) and really made for an enjoyable visit. After several attempts to get a shot of this sign, this was the best I could get. We only waited about forty minutes this time, and had a spectacular ride - the fog adds a whole new dimension to the ride. So while we waited for Terminator, we started to "queue" for Deja Vu. After our ride on Terminator, and a quick stop in the Terminator gift shop (I got a sweet T-Shirt) we snagged another ride on Deja. We only waited an hour for Terminator, which in my opinion is totally worth it. I can't think of anything clever to say. "I'm Back" keeps running through my mind though. But first, Luke (My brother) needs a cape. No, The Riddler did not wear a cape to my knowledge, but I already have the Batman cape - so there. Only six bucks, which in my opinion makes this a great souvenir for a little kid! Or an immature teenager. Another go on Batman: The Ride before we get back in line for Terminator? Yeah, that sounds good! Superman is a fun ride if you just let go and let it do it's thing. I think the same could be said for most rides - especially Terminator. The Atom Smasher. Now THAT'S a hard core ride name. And this ride earns it. Except it should be named the "Little brother squasher". Sorry, mom. Hey Thomas Town, you had lots of kids playing inside you. But I felt it would be too creepy to take a picture of that. A fun ride, but they could really use a row sorter. The station is a total mess. Next up, The Riddler's Revenge. And yes, it is THE Riddler's Revenge. His name is The Riddler. Yeah, I did argue with my friend about this for fifteen minutes. We decided we had not had enough of Tatsu, so we Flashed it again (heh heh) and got another great ride in the back. This ride on X2 was like finding out that your highschool sweetheart was sleeping with your best friend. Alright, not really. It was more like falling off a horse onto gravel. There we go. Hello X2. Yes, I am ready to wait two and a half hours in order to hate the ride that you give me. By now, it was lunch time. We decided to get some food before venturing towards X2, which we knew would be crowded and not flashpass friendly. The food was good, although the employees were very, very slow. Unfortunately, my wag of the finger goes to the Tatsu crew for excessive laziness and slow dispatch times. We Flashpassed Tatsu and skipped a good forty minute wait. I also discovered I love Tatsu in the back row, the intensity is umatched on any B&M I have been on. We found this while we were walking up the Flashpass stairs - pretty cool! We found out that Christian Bale is unrelated to this Batman: The Ride - so we're good to ride. We wanted to get in and out of here as quickly as possible before Christian Bale found us.. we barely escaped his wrath over at Terminator. After we ran back to the front of the park to get our flashpass (Yeah, yeah, that's one big reason our day kicked so much butt) and then reserved Goliath, which only had a ten minute wait as it was. The back seat on this ride is much better than the front, in my opinion. But this is not a Terminator report, so we booked it over to Deja Vu next which we got on with no wait. I love this ride. A lot. Really. Terminator was a lot of fun. Some great airtime moments with plenty of intensity and fantastic pacing all wrapped together with a fun theme makes this one a winner! What do you mean you saw that last shot already? You guys are too tough to please. I could keep showing you Terminator pictures that you have already seen, but instead, here is some track without a train. The entrance to the pre-shows. When it gets hot, these buildings will be a Godsend. Some more queue theming, it was nice to have something to look at while waiting. Even the tvs which were littered with advertisements were good for starting conversation. The end of the world is sponsored by Jeep! I knew it... Feast your eyes on.. THE END OF THE WORLD. Hello my love. Is that weird to say? Probably. I don't care. I was excited. At ten thirty am the gates swung open, and we scanned our print at home play passes and booked it to Terminator. Thanks to the Revolution shortcut we were able to get about third in line for Terminator - score! We were able to get to about third in line outside the gate, good thing we got here early! I'd like to note that the pre-show outside is just so sad. The actors try SO hard, but the material is just SO campy! We joked about what a "Six Flags Day" was exactly - boy were we about to find out what the upside of that scale was! Hello Magic Mountain, it's nine thirty - which means we get to wait an hour to get inside you. Yep. First picture and there's already a sex joke.
atem122 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Great PTR I cracked up about the Atom Smasher thing because I get busted up on that ride when I sit on the outside. Seems like you had a very fun day, you pretty much rode everything, but hated x2 which is odd.... But most importantly...you TOOK THE TUNNEL
ghost007jas Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 I generally love X2, which is what made this last rode so shocking!
CreditCrazy Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Sounds like a fun day, but what was wrong with your X2 ride?
atem122 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I generally love X2, which is what made this last rode so shocking! Haha I kinda have to agree with you, when I rode on the outside a few of the times I really got raped by it at the bottom of the first drop and Raven Turn, still a fantastic ride for me though
ghost007jas Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 The restraint loosened up durin the ride, which was more uncomfortable than frightening. And the audio was not workig quite right, the fire was off, and I got beat up and banged around worse than I ever had on X.
atem122 Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Yeah my friend said something about his "seatbelt getting loose" (he's gp so I think he meant restraint) and I remember reading some review of X from a while ago where someone said the same thing, but I do agree, when X2 molests you, and there's no fire, it's not nearly as fun
tanthonyam Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 How did you get night shots of Terminator on May 28 if the park closed at 6? Same day I went. I left around 5ish and it was still bright outside. Did you mean Friday? I think they were open til 10pm. I honestly dont know how you did Tatsu multiple times! That ride made me queasy. I only enjoyed the pretzel loop inversions and even that was uber-intense.
ghost007jas Posted June 2, 2009 Author Posted June 2, 2009 Woops! I meant to say the 25th, not the 28th. My bad! As far as Tatsu goes, I can honestly say the ride has never made me ill. I generally don't get motion sickness of any kind, so that's not particularly shocking.
Jerrykoala2112 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Hey! Nice trip report and some of your shots with Terminator were great! -PM me is you have any 2009 maps....thanks!
ghost007jas Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks! I forgot to grab any maps, so I'll do my best to get some on Termination Day.
dragsterfan420 Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Man I really gotta get to the west coast and get to Magic Mountain. Every time I see pics/videos from it I want to go more. Great PTR.
dino Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Cool TR with some beautiful shots of Terminator. Just makes me all the more anxious for June 28th .
