Hilltopper39 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 I recent;y saw the move Lords of Dogtown about skatboarders in like the 70's or early 80's in SOuthern Clifornia , and in the movie they surf under a pier that has a closed down decaying wooden coaster on it. It looks like the same pier that housed the famous Cyclone Racer because the oil derrick looking tower is adjacent to the pier, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this move or knows if that is the coastdr in the movie. Great movie though, prety cool.
coaster1 Posted July 27, 2005 Posted July 27, 2005 That would be the Venice Pier (Pacific Ocean Park) and the Sea Serpent, which was later bought by Legend City in Arizona and then sat until the park closed never being rebuilt.
Twister II Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Are you sure? I thought it said Queens Park, that was in the original movie.
coaster1 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Didn't bother to see the movie, but it is supposed to take place in Dogtown, which is Venice/Santa Monica .. if you've seen Dogtown and the Z-Boys, the start of the film series persay, it gives a nice view of POP after it shut down and most burned down. The footage may of been of a different park or stock footage which hollywood is good at miss-representing places very well.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 The footage in "Lords" is 100% CG. The original footage in the documentary is very good.
coaster1 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Hence why I didn't bother wasting money on the new movie .. the documentry was very very well done and great film.
