atem122
I was down in San Diego today and really wanted to go to Belmont park to re ride the Giant Dipper so that I could finally decide which is better. IMO the SD one knocks SCBB's out of the park (I know a ton of you just had heart attacks, but I thought it was more fun and had a bit more negative g's) FOR THE RECORD: I had permission to take pictures on the ride I call this picture: Crap I've gotta get my camera out the train is coming Walking in you're greeted with lift hill hotness Yep we're at Belmont Park! I've got my unlimited ride wristband on! This should come in handy There's a train through that wood Wooooo(cant think of anything to say)ooooooo In case you get bored of Giant Dipper, you can always subject yourself to Chaos! The ride with the funniest automated ride spiel.... BEACH BLASTER! La Revolucion, eat your heart out Look at all of those happy riders! See? This place is fun! Now I'm on the ride about to get eaten by a "dangerous" tunnel Oh good the danger is over No wait! more danger!!!!! Look ma! I can see my house (that's what whales would say if they could ride) A labyrinth of beauty! To be honest...I have no clue what the hell I did to get this pic A first drop with no train! how exciting, oh wait that's right, I'm on the train There's still DANGER up ahead Check it out! This ride goes vertical! Signage porn Just in case you forget where you are... This ride has nice curves Now this is a bit more like it Hey they have boats here! Beach Blaster in action Look at this close up If only there was a train on the lift!!!!! If any sfmm fanboys want closure...there's a tilt a whirl here too Look! Chaos works too! I swear I already took a pic like this Failed Hair Time picture Oh ew these must be the worst trains ever *cough*... ...oh wait Entirely for the sake of being a nerd Bye Good Giant Dipper and Belmont Park Oh God! What's this? No Bad Seaworld! You're not worth my time again!
ebl
It's been quite a few years since I was last at Belmont Park. The Giant Dipper is a lot of fun, but I think if they replaced those Morgan trains with some new Millennium Flyers, it would be a great improvement. Not sure why you ended your TR with pictures of Journey to Nowhere at SeaWorld, but...whatever... Eric
atem122
It was on the way out of mission bay, I figured since I had a tad bit of memory left on my camera I could still be a nerd. I also had the MF thought today, while it's 99% likely that it will never get millenium flyers, they would help greatly, your sides can really take a beating from those morgans. And as stated above: I did not break park policy by taking my camera on the ride, it was being allowed by the ride operators
FitchCoaster
You have no idea how excited I was when I read the title of this thread. I'm always down in that area, but I've never really had the time to stop by (either that or I'm bust at Sea World...) Anyways... Great pictures! It's great to see some pictures of this place, I pretty much grew up there as a little kid. Giant Dipper is such a great ride, IMO. Now that I think about it, the Giant Dipper was my first "big" roller coaster. I also rode the thing 13 times on my 13th birthday, hahaha. Great memories there. How smooth was it running? I heard they recently re-tracked the thing. I also agree that the Morgan trains need to be replaced, the ride would be even more fun with newer, more smoother running trains. It's also nice to see that the place is being updated and kept in good shape. The new rides look fun. Great trip report! I really enjoyed it. Alpenguy
Nice TR. Do they still have the round, spinny bumper cars?
rcroques
I agree on the Millenium Flyers. It would make that ride an even more impressive ride than it is. Sincerely, R.C.

Thanks, I must say that while I did start kind of taking a beating, it was really smooth for its age, a lot smoother than Ghostrider at knott's and hell, I probably rode it 6-7 times so it was smooth enough to do that
CreditCrazy
Nice PTR, although I disagree with SD being better than SC
Cygnus12
Nice TR! I remember stopping by at Belmont last summer while touring California; it's certainly a neat little park and the Giant Dipper was a great old coaster!
