CreditCrazy Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Dear OP. I enjoyed some of your camera angles. If you'd like to reduce some of that blur, maybe you can set your camera to the sporting event mode - that'll force a fast shutter speed. But maybe you like blur. What, no Pony Express? Pony Express is a terrible ride that I hate. I never bothered going over there.
PAL Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Pony Express is a terrible ride that I hate. I never bothered going over there. I don't blame you. I haven't made it on there myself, but feel much the same.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I don't get why people hate Pony Express so much. I mean, personally I think it stinks, but the targeted audience for the ride loves it. I also think it fits the park its in very well.

I also think it fits the park its in very well. It is extremely short, and extremely uncomfortable to the point where you are tortured on the ride. It's a complete waste IMO and was added just to be added. I don't hear or see a lot of people coming off and liking it either.
GhostRider16 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I have spent more than my fair share of time being the ride op that had to be at the railroad crossing (right by Pony) this summer. While Pony is not a favorite among older teens and adults, it is a big hit with kids and younger teens. Like previously mentioned, the target audience for the ride loves it. I would hear kids saying that they they loved pony that they wanted to go on it again and again and again.

That's really weird...you've obviously seen the ride more than I have, I guess it is pretty popular. But honestly, it just did not seem popular when I've been over there, and been on the ride/exiting.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 ^To be fair, the park hasn't seen the attendance like when I worked there in 2006. by this time in 2006, We consistantly had an hour wait for Xcelerator (Well, when it was running )
Volt Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Even so, no matter what the statistics say, there will almost all of time be people with different opinions. There's nothing anyone can do about it.

Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 ^Nothing we can do? Sure there is! We can start an online community and dump all those useless opinions into cyberspace.
rawrtotheargh Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 At the basketball game in front of xcel's launch do they not play when the train is launching? Cause it seems like if someone really sucked then it might be possible to over shoot and it to fly into the ride path. I realize the odds are slim but still a little curious. Cause that would hurt. Bad.

Bad. I've never really thought about that, but the game just keeps going. They don't wait for the Xcelerator train and if it comes, I guess it just. It's too hard to predict when Xcelerator launches. But I'm sure Knott's situated the game so it wouldn't be possible to throw it over and hit a happy (but not anymore) rider on Xcelerator.
B-RadG Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I can imagine they would make sure that nobody got smacked in the face with a basketball. I think that would be worse than getting "goosed". Launch + face + basketball... not a good combination.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I Worked Xcel the year they installed that 3 point challenge and believe it or not, but no such incidents have happend. A few close calls, though.

A few close calls, though. Quick question: When was it installed? I'm pretty sure it was there everytime I went in 2008, but the last time I went before that was in 2006 and I don't remember it being there.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 More specifically right before Haunt of 2006.
CreditCrazy Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 More specifically right before Haunt of 2006. Ah, okay. I guess I just missed it.
Volt Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 With the 3-Point Shootout game, I was able to make $80 People would pay me $5 bucks to play for them, and then give me another $5 for the ball that I would always win

B-RadG Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I don't even attempt games at parks. Most of them just rip you off and send you home broke. I've seen a few people that won something on the 3-Point thingey at KD.
GhostRider16 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I was actually the opening crew for 3-point challenge back in 2006 (ya... I wasn't 18 yet so I couldn't be in rides) and I always thought about what would happen if someone over shot when xcel was launching. I like mentioned before, there were a couple of close calls where the ball would hit the top of the fence while the train was launching but I never saw it go over. Now that I am in rides, I work at xcel quite often and I still haven't seen the ball go over, but that would be a horrible sight to see.
CreditCrazy Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 After looking at some of my 3-Point Shoot Out photo's again, it looks like Xcelerator's track is situated almost right next to the fence. So if a ball were to be thrown over, pretty much the only way it could land on the track would be if it was thrown high into the air, like a "loop" and why would you be throwing a ball like that if you were playing a timed basketball game? It's most likely going to be thrown at a normal way, just higher up and with more power, and if it went over the fence that way it would probably go a bit over the track and land somewhere near the walkway line which would of course not be bad at all
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 ^^I was in Xcel dispatch when it hit s pigeon...Both sad and hilarious.
Quicksilver04440 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 funny, so has bullet, was on dock when i saw a guy in the front row nail a pidgeon
