SnooSnoo Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Well Robb.. I've asked around to several sites but I never get any reliable advice. I'll be heading to SFMM on this upcoming Sunday and was just curious what you think in terms of: -What rides to do first. -Where to eat. -Where to park. -What time to get there. -What to buy. -Anything to avoid. Being that this is my first trip, I have no idea. Also.. this will probably be my last trip for probably 3-4 years.. so I want to optimize my time there. Thanks ahead of time Robb! -Snoo
robbalvey Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Hey man! Glad to hear you coming to So Cal. I'm going to move this thread to the main forum because I know this has been answered a lot and some of the members here can probably help out too. You may want to do a quick search for "SFMM Help" or "SFMM advice" because I'm pretty sure someone has posted this very recently. I do reccomend getting there EARLY! The park opens at 10:30 and I would suggest being at the parking booths by 9:45 *JUST IN CASE* there is a big crowd (not likely) or if there is an event (may be likely!) I think that Q-Bots will start up this coming weekend (not 100% sure) but if the park is crowded at all, it may not be the worst idea to give it a try! Bummed that it looks like we will miss you this weekend, but maybe some other TPR members will be around? --Robb
SnooSnoo Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 Thanks for the tips Robb. I was hoping the Q-Bots would be open.. I saw that they were being built in your last photo update. When I went to SFGAdv, they saved me hours in wait times. And sucks that I can't meet up with ya. Maybe the next time you are on the East Coast?
Calicoasters Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 -What rides to do first. The park is pretty much a circle. If you plan on arriving at opening I would try to get X2 in before it fills up. X2 isn't always ready when the park opens though so I'm a little iffy on that one. Last Sunday we didn't see X2 running before the gates openend so we went to Goliath first. While we were on Goliath we noticed X2 was running (people or not?) but we missed out because the line never dropped while we were there. I think your best bet is to make an effort at either X2 or Tatsu before their lines get long. After that, you shouldn't need the Q-Bot. But pretty much just work the circle. -Where to eat. I've been really into Johnny Rockets lately! As far as burgers go in theme parks they are pretty good, but not so great in the outside world. I would much rather have an In & Out burger, but Johnny Rockets is the best burger inside the park. The Moose Burger Lounge is also pretty good! Don't be affraid of it, it really doesn't cost that much more than else in the park. There is also a good mix of food near Goliath. -Where to park. For most of the day they will tell you where to park -What time to get there. Sometime before the park opens. Some days the ticket booth lines will be the longest wait of the day. -What to buy. Anything that you think is worth having! I like their sweatshirts, but caution you about sizes! I bought an XL Sweatshirt, and it shrunk down to the perfect size to fit my 120 pound girlfriend. -Anything to avoid. Avoid bringing too much stuff with you to the park. More coasters are getting lockers put in and they are madatory that you use them for certain items. I only bring my Phone (secured by a clip inside my pocket) a small camera, and a souvenir sports bottle which is allowed to be placed off to the side or in a storage bin inside the station. The lockers waste time and money, so I do what I can to not need them. Hope this helps, and have fun!
haiderodes Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 My tip is that if you're not up for X2 right away, and you are staying till closing, come back later. They don't close the line until park close and you'll still get on. That way if the line is rediculous, you aren't eating up valuable park time. Also, lots of kids tend to leave the line at park close because they have to meet their school groups and what not so it kinda thins out. Oh also, I recommend the Fresh Cut Fries near the base of Superman's Tower.
ajinaz Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I might be making a stop on Saturday for a few hours while visiting in Ventura. I'll try to post about the Q-Bots by the evening or maybe in the morning from my Instinct if someone else doesn't.
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Ninja is a highly underrated ride. Don't pass it up if you have the opportunity to ride it. Tatsu and X are a solid choice to do last as every other line should be at the very least "barable". I also second eating a Mooseburger lodge. The foods halfway decent, the price isn't obscenely high, and you get drink refills. As long as you get there before 11am, you should beable to get a few runs on older rides and still fit in X and Tatsu at least once. I'd also recommend that if you intend on buying souveniers to either A: wait until you're leaving (due to toting items) or B: buy most stuff in stores as most retail locations in the park offer to hold your items until park close that can be picked up in the Loony Tunes super store right by the exit.
