TwistedTrack Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Im going to be in New Orleans and may go to Six Flags New Orleans. If i go i could only go for about 3 hours. Do you think that is enough time to do all the coasters and maybe one or two other kinds of rides. Im also wondering what some must do's are. Is it a good park at night time?
Rugged One Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 I've heard that it is a good park at night time but that is unfortunately when everyone goes. We went on a Sunday morning in late July last year and finished all the coasters(3 on Megazeph), the dark ride, spaceshot and drop tower, and a spin on the Catwomens Whip in about 3 hours. Because of the heat down there, it seems that everyone waits to go in the evening instead of the morning.
TwistedTrack Posted July 25, 2005 Author Posted July 25, 2005 thanks. im thinking about going in the afternoon now. I would rather be hot then have to wait in long lines. i also may be a able to stay maybe an hour or two longer.
calcajun Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Sat- busy Sun- moderate Weekdays- light Let me know when your going to be at the park so I can say hi and maybe take a ride on MZ with you and friends.
TwistedTrack Posted July 26, 2005 Author Posted July 26, 2005 im only 12 so it might be kind of wierd but im not sure when i am
calcajun Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 LOL!, Not a problem. But, I do work there so it would not be wierd for me to welcome a guest to the park and take a ride with a guest. Certainly you should ride...... Batman the ride which drops over jazz lake. Many say it is a little faster than most. I agree but the only other one I have ridden was at SFMM. I always pass up riding them in other parks. Megazeph which is a custom CCI wood and steel. Sit in first seat car 1 or first seat car 6. Muskrat Scrambler which is a standard maus but the trims never seem to come on therefore giving fast rides with hard laterals if your into that sort of thing. Custom Sally Dark Ride, Joccos Mardi Gras Madness. Well, It's custom. Krazey Krewe which from what I hear is unlike most models because ours rotates. Thats what I hear anyway. I am not big on knowing a lot about flat rides. (Standard name for these is The Bat?) Catwomans whip. Well, On another board there were some saying that ours had pins put in to keep the cars from flipping upsidedown but I see them flip. Not sure how that rumor was started. Shrug. Cypress plunge which is not very big but custom log ride with two drops. Warning, If riding with four to a log, The person in front will most likely get a huge amount of water dumped into thier lap! I love watching that! LOL If your into shows at all, ours were done totally in house by our entertainment staff from building the stage to coreography. If you see any of them be sure to see the two shows in the Orpheum Theatre.
Homey G. Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 Cal, That Batman is the best of the bunch (of the ones I've done... oG, MM, GAm, GAdv, and NO). Fastest, and offers a great view of Jazz lake and one of the few that offer an onride photo. Catwoman's Whip is of the devil. Pure and simple.
EpcotLova Posted July 26, 2005 Posted July 26, 2005 I hit up SFNO last week, on a Thursday. The park itself is quite beautiful. We got there when the park opened, and there were no lines the entire day. However, I must say I found the ride ops to be unfriendly and rude except this one lady in concessions who sold me a Coke. Mega Zeph hurt like crazy. We rode front seat twice, 2nd row once, and the back once. The first drop is very fun, but the trick track step section towards the end of the ride is just plain brutal. Ive been on better wooden coasters. I do not see what the big deal is with Mega Zeph? Batman: The Ride, on the other hand, is great. Great speed, great comfort, good G's. Catwomans Whip is not as bad as you think. Its pretty fun. The top spin is insane! The ride op spun us around in the air 3 times, it had a hell of a program. The Jester was alright, a little bumpy, but going backwards is freaky. The Wild Maus is EVIL. The lateral G's isnt the problem, its the things in the car scraping your legs. It HURTS. The boomerang is very fun and not too rough, but I wouldnt ride it again. Oh...and I will say this, and I dont mean to be racist, but there were several african-american groups with kids who loved to cut in line or just bad mouth me and my brother....needless to say I told them off and if any people from those groups decided to do anything else I would have told six flags. But it was just annoying and made me really mad. I dont know, the food at the park was good though.
