Planning a Trip to NJ Six Flags

Does anyone know why SFGAd is open during the week of April 13th-17th?

 

Their event calendar doesn't show anything, and then they go back to weekends only for the four weeks following. I was thinking of going over for a weekday trip to avoid the crowds early in the Season, but don't want to walk into some school group events.

In New Jersey it's called Easter/Spring Break that week.

 

SFA is open this week. Perhaps a lot of schools have Spring Break this week. At least the days off would lead into Easter

I considered Spring Break. Lots of schools here in PA already had it though.

 

How crowded is the park generally on Fridays in April? I was looking at perhaps the 10th. Would I need to get there at rope drop, or could I get there in the afternoon?

 

I've had rather good luck (knock on wood) with SF parks early in the Season in the past. I got through SFDK this year on opening day and rode all 8 coasters in 1 hour 5 minutes.

Jackson school district and NYC have Spring Break from the 9th to the end of the week after that. I am thinking the 10th (and the 11th) will be crowded since it is a holiday weekend but I could be wrong since last year on the Wednesday when they were open during the week in April the park was dead in 2007 but in 2008 it was jammed.

 

I also don't think a lot of people don't realize the park will be open yet since I have heard no advertisements on the radio or on TV like last year before the park opened.

Just realized that Sunday, April 12th (Easter) is open for Season Passholders only. I assume this is good if you have any SF 2009 pass. Has anyone ever been to one of those? Can't be too crowded.

It is a buyout day, there is a large Jewish group that goes to the park on Easter (they are also ther on the 13th when the park is open to the public).

So, how crowded? Go on Season Pass day, or during the week of the 13th-17th?

I don't know, I was never there on season pass day, but I was there when the group was there on a regular operating day last season. It was horrible. 30 - 45 minute waits for everything except Kingda Ka which I heard was over an hour.

I've gone the past 3 years on Easter Sunday (aka Season Pass Day). I generally only stay for the first two hours before going to my Mom's for Easter Dinner.

 

In those first two hours I generally get about 8 rides on El Toro and a couple of circuits on Nitro before heading home.

Thanks Larry. Would you suggest it as a good day to go then? Could I get on everything fairly easily? I haven't been to GAd since I was much younger and have alot I'd like to ride. Don't want to deal with LINES!
