BJS1981 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 I saw on a website that lists stats on the rides that travel everywhere in different countries (i.e. number of trailers, passengers per load, etc...). And on the page for Mondial's Inferno (more popularly known as Airwolf), that they state that the ride is not US road legal for interstate travel without special permits. what is the case on that? is it because the ride is so huge or what? http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%20Pages/inferno.html
paintballer Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Yeah, I'm guessing that the ride when it is transportable mode is to large for Us Highways, bassicly they would have to have a "Wide Load" car traveling behind it.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Its because its too heavy to travel on US high ways and roads. Same with the Huss Top Spins. The only carnival in America that has these large European rides is Strates Shows. They transport their carnival by rail.
buttonman700 Posted December 25, 2008 Posted December 25, 2008 When Thrill-Ville moved it's SCAD tower they had to add extra axels to the rig to make it legal. No too uncommon for some ot the larger rides made in europe to have the problem.
ebl Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 ^^ That was quite an impressive train. The thing is, though, trucks still have to take rides to the actual carnival site unless all of their carnivals are right next to the railroad tracks! Just curious, do you know where that video was shot? Eric
thrillrideseeker Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Southbound below Sunbury Pa. Enroute to Harrisburg, Pa. Hope that helps!~Matthew
ebl Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 ^ Thanks! I just watched it from right here in the thread, so I didn't see that. Eric
cycamps Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 That's pretty interesting. I've never been to a very large fair, so I've never thought about the larger rides like that.
