captain Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 This Year We made our Annual Trip to the Europa-Park to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Europa-Park. We arrived late friday evening had some pizza and some drinks to get to bed late. We woke up on saturday, had some breakfast and off course big pleasure to join the first midnight opening in the park history. We arrived at 09am to get the first rides without the big crowds. Our crew, we were 14 people did a brilliant job staying together over the whole day. And it was an excellent day - Pretty hot 92 degrees, nearly 40.000 people (twice the crowd as on normal high season days!) and what a surprise: normal wating times (about 30 to 60 minutes which is brilliant for Europa in the summer). Did our Lunch in the greece restaurant and Diner in the Scandinavian Fjord Restaurant. Writing about the great Europa-Park and the great day I`ve to come to the one sad thing on this day: The big birthday party show at 11pm. It should be the main part of the day but it became the big dissapointment. The place were they build the stage was the place infront of the Atlantica Super-Splash, and it was to small to handle the crowds. The show surprised with intelligent art performance, boring and deplaced. The sadest thing was the big fireworkshow. Not more than 40% of the firework was burnt, and didn`t work with the music and the firework they were able to burn was so lame because of exploding some 10 meters overground in a big smoke cloud. This whole firework wasn`t produced by the Europa-Park so it`s not there fault. The fireworkers did such a bad job, maybe the didn`t estimate that this firework was to close to the Supersplash (water humanity and fireworks = big smoke). Overall also the owners, the Mack family seemed to be very dissapointed. After spending 15 hours in a row in the Europa-Park we decided to go the Colloseo Hotel Bar (Mille Miglia) to have some After Midnight Drinks. What a brilliant way to end such a day. After 2am we went back to our rooms in Rust. The ones of us who travelled home sunday morning went for another drink to another hotel. On sunday 6 of our group went another time to the park. That was such a good decision, because the park seemed to the be very calm (for high season of course). No waiting more than 20 minutes. Maybe a lot of people were tired from the day before or maybe it was too hot (about 95 degrees in the shadow, that`s hot hot hot for us germans, it felt a little bit like the Magic Mountain temps in summer). This weekend was such a wonderful trip, lot of great people and of course one of the best parks in the world made it magical. Some more new photos in the next days on coasterfriends.com Andy The Euro-Sat was changed a little bit... Reon Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Wait a second...I thought Atlantica and Posieden were at two different parks...Your saying they have 2 water coasters? *is shot*
Thuur Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Wait a second...I thought Atlantica and Posieden were at two different parks...Your saying they have 2 water coasters? *is shot* Nope, Poseidon is the watercoaster and Atlantica is the Supersplash. The Supersplash is NOT a coaster according to Mack, although, most people count it as a coaster. Nice TR! I like the backside of the girls, ehm... I mean... shirts
PhishyBrewer Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 I want matching shirts for my next group trip. Thanks for sharing!
SharkTums Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 Great TR! LOL, still laughing about the 'backside of our girls'! Mmmm that restaurant at the Colosseo....unlimited do it yourself bread.... Elissa "I miss Europa Park!" Alvey
pgathriller Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 The Matterhorn cars look small and uncomfortable. It looks like you have to squeeze 2 people in there to fit. And the side of the cake looks like Twinkies! I like Twinkies!
captain Posted July 20, 2005 Author Posted July 20, 2005 the Matterhorn cars are really pretty small - but hey this guy is 6.3 feet and a small car is more thrilling than a big one. By the way Europa-Park has 4 water rides: the Atlantica Super-Splash the Poseidon Watercoaster the Fjord Rafting Rapids and the Tiroler Wildwasserbahn (log flume) A lot of water rides compared with some regions with much more sunshine and sunny days. But at least it is the spot with the most sun in germany. And Yes, we love our girls...
