Guest Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 This isnt so much of an "ask alvey" as an "ask anybody who knows." Whats the most cost effeciant way of doing all the good Vegas rides including Desperado? Everything looks really overpriced so theres got to be some sort of discounts somewhere. **Note im driving through Vegas to Cali and am just looking to do the ride stuff as cheap as possible in one day and stay there one night. This is going to be in early January.
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Desperado is outside the city in another casino about 45 min west.... You should get one of these types of passes to help with expenses: www.looktours.com/las-vegas-power-pass-card.html Win big on the slots then you wouldn't have to worry about $$.
AllenA07 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I'm not sure if this always applies every year, however when I was in Vegas at New Years last many of the rides were closed. I know Desperado was closed, and Manhattan Express was closed at least 2 of the 4 days I was there. I didn't actually make it all the way down to see if Speed was running, nor did I make it inside Circus Circus, but I'd assume that Canyon Blaster was open. The rides in Vegas really are subpar, it's been years since I've actually spent the money to ride one.
sfkk339 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Those Las Vegas power Passes where very helpful when I went back in 2007!
alanjonesbath Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 We also bought the Vegas Power Pass when we went in June. Went on Manhatten Express, Speed and Canyon Blaster, plus the whole of the Adventuredome, the NASCAR simulators at the Sahara, plus a whole load of other stuff. Not bad value, so long as you are going to be able to get around all the attraction that the passes include. We did, so we were happy.
RCFreak Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 I really don't think the play pass would be worth it to you at this point as some of the attractions no longer exist (the Star trek experience) or are closed (Speed for sure, possibly other rides as well) during your visit. I would wait until the week of your trip and callt he different places you plan to visit and see if the rides are open and you can still get the Play pass on the strip the day of your trip if you want to do it that way. I would also try hitting up the tix4tonight booths they have on the strip. I know Speed was frequently on there half price wristbands when the ride was open. So that might be worth a shot to see if any of the other attractions you want to hit are on there. Unfortunatly, the only other cupons I've seen for the other rides are if you stay at the hotels. When I was younger we would always stay at Circus Circus and get cupons for wristbands for the rides. And I know they used to give out cuopns on Manhattan Express...er... the Roller Coaster at NY NY for Desperado and vise-a-versa when I would buy the tickets there. Not sure if they still do that as it's been a while since I've been on either.
Guest Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 Thanks for the help. I am going to call each place to see if their ride is operating then make a descision weather or not to go on my way out to Cali, since unless theres a Mike Tyson fight, nothing in Vegas interests me much other than the rides (I hate Casino's).
HHN Dylan Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Well me actually being in Vegas as we speak... I can tell you off the bat unforchantly SPEED IS CLOSED. I was so mad when I found this out, which was in the Sahara lobby... Also saw you were talking about desperado, truth is I went to Buffalo Bills yesterday, its a 40 minute drive from the strip, and SO worth it. Desperado has some fun drops. (in 1998 it was the highest/fastest in the US). It was open, as was everything else there, so you shouldn't have to worry about that to much. You should also check out the stratosphere if you want to. Good luck.
