Cygnus12 Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I started this project a few weeks ago and I think it's safe to say that I might actually finish this one. In the past, I've posted work in progress topics at other forums and either lost interest or didn't have the time to finish, but this one is about 70% done! This is a mountain waterpark with a...well, a mountain theme. I've seen many RCT3 waterparks with 250 foot tall slides that launch peeps into a 1x1 spash pool, some of those parks may have been my own creations, so I'm trying to go realistic with this one! Here's the progess so far: The entire waterpark as it is right now. I'll probably add a few more slides to the back of the mountain in the center. Here's a mat slide with some steep drops. Trees and theming has yet to be placed. Another mat slide with two speed slides to the right of it. Trees have yet to be planted. A couple of tube slides that sort of race each other. They end up going pretty fast towards the end yet only have a 3 excitement. A waterpark just isn't a waterpark without a vertical speed slide. This one stands at 135 feet I think. Peeps rocket up to 60+mph; wedgie-city. Can't see it too well but it's one of those raft slides with the water blast sections. Finally, this is a big raft slide that goes down the side the mountain and through a cave towards the end. I plan on making another one of these slides as well. Something I still have to work on are buildings...which I hate doing!
DBru Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Looks like a pretty cool waterpark! Could use some more colors, though...
Cygnus12 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 I'll try some other colors but I want to keep a natural look to the park. I don't want to add in a blaring red or bright purple slide that sticks out. lol
Kalepi_Konei Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Yeah stick with the earthy tones to it. As for the waterpark looks awesome! I think you should add some more foliage and rocks to the mountain though, and scatter some trees around the park, it looks a little bland. I LOVE the waterpark! Just needs some touch ups in the visual aspect of things.
KPWoCkAxX Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I think this will turn out great! Just add more trees, rocks shrubs and what not and it will look a whole lot better! I suggest Martenmar's Leftovers for rocks.
DBru Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I don't want to add in a blaring red or bright purple slide that sticks out. lol LOL, I understand that. Just don't make every slide that exact same (aqua)blue color, as it is too repetitive. Maybe try same different blues, some browns, black, green... there are many colors that would keep with the "woodsy/mountainy" theme. Just look at Dollywood's Splash Country! http://www.viewfromeasttennessee.com/wp-images/Dollywood-Splash-Country-Downbound-Float-Trip.jpg http://www.ultimatewaterpark.com/news/stories/img/dsc_swiftwaterrun_may08.jpg http://patriotgetaways.com/images/splash001.jpg
AlmereStars Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I'll try some other colors but I want to keep a natural look to the park. I don't want to add in a blaring red or bright purple slide that sticks out. lol some of the "soft" colours would look great, so instead of the aqua bleu that Dbru has pinched out in the post above, use brown/dark green(that poopy colour)/dark yellow, maybe some grey? that way the slides won't stand out. but they're still different. Maybe you can put in some small station buildings at the top or something? btw the supports look great!
KPWoCkAxX Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I reckon you coud squeeze a log flume in there......... But then again i'm obsessed with log flumes! I've only just noticed the Custom supports......... They look Great!
Cygnus12 Posted August 25, 2008 Author Posted August 25, 2008 I think it's kind of funny that at first I was using light green slides, and then was like "eh' I don't want them all green. Let's make a few light blue." I guess I lost track somehow. lol
KPWoCkAxX Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 I understand completely what you mean. Just take a look at my clover acres park, You should see how much brown I used!
Steffen_Dk Posted August 25, 2008 Posted August 25, 2008 Looks really good, and I guess that the rest of the slides will be themed as well as the rocket slide I see in the right corner in the first pic.
Cygnus12 Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Thanks for the input everyone! Here's some updates: Working on a new river ride. The first version of this ride nearly tossed the raft from the slide. However, I think I'm going to change the ending of this ride since it doesn't carry the speed all the way through. The trees and shrubs grew pretty quickly around the Glissade and Avalanche slides. I added in some snow as well since these three slides are snow themed. The lavender doesn't look too bad against the rock. I added bushes and trees to the cliff as well as four waterfalls...all of which pour over the slides in different areas. The park as it is now. There's a new mountain to the bottom left that holds the new river ride and a lazy river. I plan on adding a few more slides to it as well. This park is getting pretty big! For a waterpark at least. To be continued...
DBru Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 OMG, this is looking SO good now! Very nice pick of colors and scenery!
AlmereStars Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 with these colors it looks so much more alive! and yet it doesn't look like a kids playground
cinciDAWGS12 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 This park looks a lot better with scenery! This is a sweet waterpark! Keep it up!
Cygnus12 Posted August 27, 2008 Author Posted August 27, 2008 Thanks for the compliments! Since the last update, I've axed the lazy river and may rebuild it around a wave pool that I'll be placing in somewhere. In its place I added 3 sets of slides (6 new in total.) First version of an un-named speed slide. The slide ended too high above the water and went too fast resulting in flying dummies. That's better! They even finish at roughly the same time, yay! I still need to fix the rocks around it and theme it. One of those speed slides that go under and over one another. I still need to connect stairs to it; I need to do that to all of the slides in this section actually. Finally, we have a tube/body slide combo. It's all turns basically. Still need to support it, and theme it a bit. To be continued....
DBru Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Looking even better with each update! You are GREAT with terrain...
KPWoCkAxX Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 It's looking amazing, it really is! But one thing I noticed is that the test dummy flies over the pool. Keep up the good work!
AlmereStars Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 interlocking slides ftw! you could make the exit of those slides look better though.. do you have a cs set which contains rocks or something?
Cygnus12 Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 you could make the exit of those slides look better though.. do you have a cs set which contains rocks or something? Yep, I'm going to fix that later on. However, I don't have any CS rock sets. There was one that I wanted to use but couldn't find it again. It was all these rock pillars that could be used to make rock faces, caves and other stuff. But one thing I noticed is that the test dummy flies over the pool. I don't know what happened but after letting the dummies crash for awhile, they started making those "oh no!" sounds that the peeps make when they hit something. lol I assure you that the flying dummies now land in a pool...maybe.
KPWoCkAxX Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 If I was an RCT Police man I would arrest you for abusing Peeps! But I'm Not an RCT Police man and besides, I'm A Nice Guy!
