BarryH Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Source: http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=152233&catid=3 Police: Man Steals Playstation 3, Says It's to Save His Family St. John, Mo. -- A man who robbed a video game store at gunpoint Wednesday told the clerk he was doing it to save his family, the St. John Police Department said. Police said the incident took place around 6:35 p.m., at an EB Games store located in the 9000 block of St. Charles Rock Road, about 14 miles from downtown St. Louis. The suspect went into the store, picked out a video game and approached the counter to check out. He pulled out a small handgun and told the store clerk that his family was being held hostage and that he needed a Playstation 3 in order to have them released. As he left the store, the suspect told the clerk to call the police, because his family needed help. Police arrived shortly thereafter, but the suspect had fled the scene. If you have any information, call the St. John Police Department at 314-427-8700.
Kalepi_Konei Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Thats a little strange. If his family was really in danger, I would've called the police in the first place, and not steal a PS3, sounds like this guy just wanted a PS3.
DATman Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Why would anyone's family be held hostage over a PS3 of ALL things. I mean, it's not like they're hard to find...
jmicha Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 ^Lol, I know. Seriously, if his family really was being held hostage, I have a feeling it would have been for a little more than a PS3. Yes, they're expensive, but not expensive enough to hold a family ransom for one.
thrillgeek Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 What an idiot. Just get a job, make some money, and by the dang PS3 yourself and don't steal it
Dleo Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Maybe his family were hostages to boredom... I love my PS3. It's good stuff.
XII Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 If his family was really held hostage, he probably would've fought the burgular off with the gun he had.
revilolee Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 If his family was really held hostage, he probably would've fought the burgular off with the gun he had. That's what I was gonna say. Burglars need to start thinking of new excuses .
