montezooma Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Hello European Travelers- I came across a these pictures from and old Schwarzkopf catalog of the coaster called Grand Canyon. It was a speed coaster very similar in track construction to the Revolution at Magic Mountain, even used the same trains. It was wrapped in fiberglass rock work that caught fire several years ago causing enough damage that the entire ride, along with a powered coaster, to be torn down. It was located at the end of the western area where the awesome rapids and drop tower are now located. Thought you guys would enjoy seeing it. -Shane
Bucket Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Ah, I've always wondered what the area before the fire looked like! I'm glad they built Winjas instead! Thanks for the picture!
brossa Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 This is not the space where Winjas are standing, its the River Quest space. I've ridden both coasters, Gebirgsbahn was a quite fun ride. The space where Winjas are standing has been a kids area.
TheRapidsNerd Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 That's some pretty cool rock work and yay for the Schwartz! where the awesome rapids and drop tower are now located. (big grin) Thank you Shane. Good stuff all around.
