I will be up in Louisville on August 7th for business. Noticing that SFKK is so close to the airport (real close), and considering the fact I have a SF season pass I thought I may as well pay the park a visit.

Now, I have never been there before, so I really don't know how much time I would need. Obviously there isn't a ton to do, but does the place get crowded? I was also hoping to go to the water park and do Deluge and just spend some time in there. I also don't know what the park has in the way of decent flats, etc. I will be able to get to the park around 1pm on Friday, August 8th. I see they will be open until 8pm that night. I can either fly back at 2:55pm Saturday, or early Sunday. I figure I may be able to get to the park for an hour or two Saturday considering the airport is right next door. Would Friday afternoon - evening be enough time, plus maybe 2 hours Saturday morning, or do I need to fly back Sunday?

Thanks for any advice (and I'm welcome to other advice for the park).

I'd say 3 to 4 hours would give more then enough time in the ride side.

For the water park maybe an hour? Not sure though, as I don't know what they have other then Deluge.

So is the water park worth it? It looks fun between Deluge, Tornadoe, and the new bowl slide (the wave pool and lazy river also look good).

And does anyone know of anything else in the vicinity that could be added on to time at the park?

If I went back to SFKK I'd go to the water park just for Deluge. It looks awesome.

What would you consider "vicinity"? Holiday World and Beech Bend aren't too far away. (63 miles for HW, and 88 for Beech Bend). Depends on how much you want to drive though.

The Zoo is down the freeway. It's pretty cool. They've got this huge Gorilla Exhibit they built just before I moved to a land far away. I'd recommended checking that out if you have time.

Also, there's Churchill Downs. The museum is sweet there. There's tons of interactive crap.

I'd get to the park, buy a Flashpass at Guest Relations, and work my way around the park. With a Flashpass, it shouldn't take 2 hours to ride everything.

Then I'd spend 2 hours in Splashwater Kingdom, it is VERY fun! Deluge is great, Tornado and Wedgie are fun, as are the "old" slides and wave pool.

Have fun!

^ Yes, buy a flash pass (usd 10) and you will have time left.

Not sure whether they sell it online but if they do, I would buy it online as when we arrived at 230 pm on a Saturday, all flash passed were sold out already.

I wouldn't even worry about wasting the money on a flash pass. Given how much the park has decreased in size in the last year, I would imagine you'll probably be able to knock out the coasters fairly easily on a Friday afternoon. At the very least, you'd get the majority done and be able to come back for those couple hours on Saturday. I've never waited more than 30 minutes for a ride at the park, and that was on a summer saturday afternoon.

Depending on how they have Deluge set up, you might not even have to go into the water park to ride it if you don't want. Late in the summer last year, they had one entrance for the water park and one entrance for the amusement park.

I'm not sure what your exact interests are, but in my opinion, there really isn't much worth doing at the park besides the coasters, and very few of those are worth re-riding. The only non-coaster recommendations I have are Deluge and the Break Dance.

Hope that helps!
