Stan Winston RIP

Many may not have heard of Stan Winston but everyone would know his work in films like Alien, Predator and Jurassic Park, has passed away.

NOOOOooo! This is sad news indeed! Just like Ray Harryhausen and Rick Baker, Stan Winston will go down as one of the best speical effect/make-up people in film history. For you people who have no idea who this guy is check this out:

I saw this yesterday but wasn't sure if it was legit since the news media wasn't running it, even his Company's website had no mention. Just sad.

 

Really sucks, another great down the pipes and as said so many have no clue who these people are and how much they are the movies of those shallow stars.

This is so sad, he was the best at what he did. He made almost all my favorite movies come to life. RIP.

I still can't get over this news.

 

I don't really know what to say other than he will be missed.

Stan was one of the greats of modern FX & makeup, in the pantheon with Dick Smith, Rick Baker, Rob Bottin, Tom Savini and a few others I have forgotten right at this moment.

 

The amazing thing is these guys didn't have textbooks, often they make things up as they go along to achieve what you see on the screen, just using sheer engenuity and resourcefulness.

 

Next time I watch the Terminator, Alien, Jurassic Park or many other of the great films Stan worked on (The Extermintor maybe not so great), it will be with a touch of sadness.

 

Stan really made our nightmares come true, on screen at least.
