I recently returned from a great vacation in Pensacola Beach, Florida. I used to live on the gulf coast so it was great to see some familiar sights from my old hometown of Long Beach, Mississippi. We used to live in a cove and I actually picked out which house was ours after not seeing it for about 12 years.

We called ahead to the hotel as we were on our way to reserve a beach side room. Then the lady randomly upgraded us to the hotel's penthouse suite for no charge. Hey, there's nothing wrong with that!

I had never been to Pensacola before and it's a pretty cool place. Most of Pensacola Beach is made up of newer buildings. Hurricane Ivan destroyed many of the buildings back in 2004.

There was some pride event going on during the weekend. I don't have anything wrong with it, but when there are more rainbow flags up than American flags on Memorial Day weekend... Just my opinion, though.

Onto the pictures:

Yeah, I think I can get used to this.

The view out of our room.

Because it was a big weekend I had to wear this so I could get back into the hotel. Except they never checked for it...

Looks like a storm's a brewin!

There were some jellyfish in the water but I never got stung.

Now the sky's clearing up!

The water was crystal-clear.

WHERE ARE THE FREAKIN DOLPHINS!?!?!?!?

Hey, more power to you.

The waves never got too large but they were still big enough.

My camera accidentally took this shot...

All new buildings are being built with some heavy-duty materials.

I'll have some more up later.

Hey! I used to live there when I was a kid! Santa Rosa Island, Miracle Strip and Goofy Golf are all familiar territory.

Glad to see this is still a pretty place in spots. Looking forward to the rest of this.

Life's a beach.

I would stand in the sand and let the tide slowly bury my feet.

Another big building.

More water.

The kiddy pool.

The beach was a bit more crowded today.

Up next is the National Naval Aviation Museum

Whoa an airplane flew right over my head!

As you guessed, the musuem consists mostly of airplanes.

Helicopter

They had this cool street scene. Made me homesick for Disney World.

Man: You wanna hook up?

Woman: Yeah, if you can get me out of this box.

I'm gonna go fly with the Blue Angels. BBL.

Does every TR now have to have a girls in bikini's segment?

Nice TR though, haven't been up into the Panhandle coast before. But on a side note... Interstate 10 is BORING.

Nice TR! I love Pensacola. We go there at least once a year, if not more. My parents used to live there as my dad went through flight school there at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. I have been visiting there for at least 10 years. It's a great place. Looks like you had fun. It seems weird to me that they upgraded your room free of charge on a holiday weekend...you got lucky!

^ The lady told us they knew it wasn't going to sell, so instead of letting it sit empty they gave it to us because the smaller room we originally got had a higher probability of selling.

I got some screen grabs of the video I shot along the gulfcoast. These are from my old hometown of Longbeach, MS.

I can't remember alot, because I was only a toddler when I lived here, but I remember alot more buildings. Katrina wiped out 90% of the buildings along this area of the coast.

Too many foundations...

It was good to see alot buildings being rebuilt.

A pizza place that I would go to alot after preschool once stood here. It's sad because you want to see places and think "Ah I remember that!" but they're not there.

"The tracks" are used as a reference point in talking about the damage. Most buildings past these tracks were kept intact.

Luckily, the Subway (favorite place to eat) that I went to alot was still standing. I wonder if the same girl that I had a crush on still works there....

I've still got some more to post.
