pianojohn Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I am heading up to Chiacago for a gig the first weekend of June. I arrive in Milwaukee on Thursday morning June 5th and was planning to hit Mt. Olympus and Timber Falls that day. I was going to spend the night and then hit Little Amerricka on Friday since they are only open noon-6pm that day and end the day at Six Flags to get my Dark Knight credit. Question: can you recommend any hotels in the Dells? I heard that some give you a free admission to Mt. Olympus with your stay. Or I could stay at one of the mega indoor water park ones. The only reason I am heading up there is to get my credits on all of the coasters which were closed save for Hades the last time I visited. Also, any other parks in the area worth checking out? I don't need any more kiddie coaster credits, so no Dragon Wagons for me! Thanks!
307 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Question: can you recommend any hotels in the Dells? The Black Hawk Motel [www.blackhawkmotel.com] is the only place I've been to in the Dells and it was excellent both times. If you want fancy hotels with lots of extra crap, this isn't the place for you, but if you want something that's really well-priced, has nice beds, lots of room, a fridge, good location [off the main shopping strip of the Dells but far enough away that it's not loud]... this'll be your stop. Costs are around $60 - $80 for a room per night, from what I remember.
SharkTums Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 It's really what you want to do John. There's pretty much a wide range of options. Motel 6 - Luxury Suites with indoor water parks. We've stayed at the hotel in Mt. Olympus a few times now. Decent indoor waterpark, nice hotel, early entry and admission included in the price.
pianojohn Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 Thanks for the info! Found a room for $40! Such a deal! Any more advice regarding coasters? Like I said....I just need the Mt. Olympus credits and am hoping the coasters are all running when I get there! And does my admission include the water park there? Last time I went was in late September so nothing was open. Thanks again!
SharkTums Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Other than Mt. Olympus and Timber Falls the whole Dells area is just kiddies and powered coasters. (There's a galaxy type coaster at Riverview, but I don't think you care about that much more than the kiddies!) In past seasons your admission to Mt. Olympus included "all four parks". Indoor / Outdoor Water, Indoor / Outdoor Theme. Make sure to do some of the go karts!
Carnage Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 And try to ride Dive to Atlantis as soon as possible if you want to ride it. It has the slowest capacity ever, and will take forever to get on if there's more then like 10 people in line.
mcjaco Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Oh sure John, head this way as I'm going through to Minneapolis. I see how it is.
tsalas08 Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Just keep in mind it's a 3 hr drive from the Dells to Six Flags (assuming you don't hit traffic) and you have to go down near madison then around milwaukee to get there.
pianojohn Posted June 2, 2008 Author Posted June 2, 2008 Thanks for all the great advice. If anyone is around Mt Olympus on Thursday and Little Amerricka on Friday, look me up! Later!
